Ah, gotcha. Sorry I misunderstood. In that case, yeah I feel ya. I get stuck playing Lucio a lot since no one ever wants to go heals and man, he can't kill jack. I get way more kills sonic booming people off of cliffs than I ever do with his gun.
At least Mercy's pistol hits fairly hard.
Lucio isn't
that weak, but you do need to hit all of the projectiles to do a decent amount of damage. It also really helps if you get some headshots in there. Some of my favorite things to do is killing Tracer as Lucio, which is rather exciting. Last time I did it, I think I swapped between healing and speed about 10 times.
Keep in mind that Mercy also has to swap off her staff to deal damage, which can be dangerous if a nearby teammate starts taking damage.

I think they're opening it up on Thursday for non-preorders (preorders got to start yesterday... early access open beta). I think it all ends next Tuesday? Maybe sooner.
It opens up today at 4 PM PST just like how it opened up on Monday at 4 PM PST for pre-orders.

Played last night, had an absolute blast. A few questions though. Last time I played was a few weeks/month or two back, and I imagine they've done a fair amount of rebalancing since then. One thing I noticed was that the damage from Reinhardt/Winston's melee attacks seem *way* down. I mean I know they're tanks and not intended to specifically do damage, but I was 'zerking on Winston and attacking a McCree, who I had pinned against a wall, and I *swear* I hit him 7-9 times with no heals applied, and he still ended up rapid-firing me down. I've had similar occurrences with Reinhardt, either pinned down or just chasing around, still not able to actually make a kill.
Again, I know that's not really their purpose, but it would be nice to at least *get* a kill. Note: This didn't seem to be the case for other melee classes attacking me of course, so I might just be bad I do feel like I had an easier time in past beta runs however.
Reinhardt only does 75 damage per swing. It can take out a Tracer fairly easily since it only takes two swings, but if you're going up against a 250 health hero (Reaper, Mei, etc.), you'll have problems. With Reinhardt, you'll have far more luck if you're good at aiming Firestrike (E) and Shoulder Charge (Shift). Just don't be that Reinhardt that charges halfway across the map and wonders why he dies. Also, Earthshatter can be a great tool for taking out tons of people.
This is probably my favorite Play of the Game that I got using Earthshatter. Another trick that you can do is Reinhardt's swing reset. It's a bit hard to get used to, but once you click to put up your shield, it resets your melee swing. So, you can actually left click -> quick right click -> left click and attack faster. You can also do similar things with Reaper's reload animation. You can melee during the latter half and get in a melee attack without interrupting the reload.
As for Winston, each Primal Rage attack only does 40 damage, so it will take 5 hits to kill an unbuffed, full-health McCree. Winston actually does more single-target damage outside of Primal Rage, but the benefit of Primal Rage is the knockback and sweeping nature of the attacks.
