512GB Solid State Drive

2.5-inch | SATA 3.0Gb/s
Backup data on a faster drive with a monstrous capacity — Toshiba 512 GB internal SSD. The Toshiba internal Solid State Drive boosts reading from and writing to the hard drive. This 512 GB Toshiba SSD boots your OS faster, and loads applications much quicker. The Toshiba 512 GB internal SSD's ample cache memory, and faster average seek time make for reduced power consumption, and generating lesser noise and vibrations. Connecting via a SATA standard port, this Toshiba internal SSD provides a very high data transfer rate and can be installed in all types of desktops and servers.

This NAND-flash-based solid state drives (SSDs) are based on Toshiba's 32nm Multi-Level- Cell NAND flash memories. The drives belong to Toshiba's 3rd-generation HG High Performance SSDs, delivering the performance needed for higher end notebook computers, with an advanced MLC controller that supports higher read speeds and parallel data transfers. In addition, the SSDs wear leveling to optimize performance, which increases reliability and endurance. The drives achieve improved system responsiveness with a maximum sequential read speed of 220MB/s and maximum sequential write speed of 180MB/s, and improve the overall computing experience with faster boot and application loading times.

Compatible with any MacBook, MacBook Pro, 2009 or layer Mac mini, iMac*2010 or later, Mac Pro**, or PC with available SATA bay. SATA 3Gb/s with data rates up to 220MB/s.

  1. 1GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Total accessible capacity varies depending upon operating environment (typically 5-10% less). The actual total capacity will depend on your own defined file settings/preferences.
  2. In terms of standard gigabytes, 1GiB ≈ 1.074GB and refers to the actual formatted capacity of shown under Mac OS 10.5 or earlier and Microsoft Windows OS.
  3. Specific application environments such as temperature and duty cycle will affect the overall reliability rates.

This is criminal. I totally have no money, how can they tempt people like that? Someone please say this drive is totally unreliable so I can feel better.

this drive is horribly slow, if that makes you feel any better. Most ssd are now getting 400-500MB read and write speeds, while this gets only 180-220.

its a good price for a large drive, but its def not a fast drive.

Thank you. I was about to sell everything I own, sperm, plasma, blood, hair, 1st born, to get the funds for it, but if it is slow, I dont want it to be my first ssd experience.

I want to jump on the ssd bandwagon but I need a min of 500 gigs for all the crap I own, what I get off steam, and gamefly pc downloads.

If you're on SATA2 I think 180-220 is acceptable and is already a noticeable difference. My M17xR2 gets 240 from my 128GB M4.

Edit: umm, lol. Just checked the specs and 180-220 is the rated speeds. So I mean, you can't blame the drive for being "slow" because it's running at what it was designed at. Odd.

It cracks me up when people say that any SSD is slow. How often do you need to transfer files at speeds exceeding 200 MB/sec? When there are times you're copying large files, go get a cup of coffee.

why make airplanes to travel great distances quickly. If you need to travel far just hop in a car for 48 hours...

Comparing seconds to hours is ridiculous. Point taken but lets be real here.
