Oysters and sushi..what is the deal[/Jerry Sienfeld]

I was just listening to a commercial for a local place that specializes in sushi and oysters and it made me cringe at the thought. I have never seen why it is so appealing to people..disgusting. I have tried oysters..vomit inducing, but have never tried sushi and don't plan on it..nothing appealing about raw fish.

Aww come on, you have to try it at least once! I thought it would be gross but it was a lot less disgusting than I had imagined. Although it wouldn't be my first choice, I would eat it again. Plus I love sushi rolls (not necessarily the raw fish kind).

If sushi has raw fish, it's usually salmon, tuna, or some kind of meaty fish. A lot of sushi is made of just rice, seaweed, wasabi, different veggies---there's a lot of different types.

My favourite food is sushi, and there are many types that do not include raw fish, although in my mind the nigiri raw fish style is the best.

What does amaze me in general is the number of people who will not even try different types of food. I have always been willing to at least try just about anything at least once. If I hadn't been willing to try fresh oysters and sushi, I wouldn't know how much I enjoy eating them.

I don't know that I would compare a raw chicken strip with sushi-grade raw fish, for a number of reasons. Unless you were just trying something weird, I'd assume the chicken strip was supposed to be fully cooked and wasn't for whatever reason. In contrast, sushi-grade raw fish is obviously intended to be eaten raw. I love sushi, and raw chicken sounds pretty disgusting to me too.

Without a doubt, sushi is my favorite meal. I almost always order the same nigiri sushi: tuna, albacore, yellowtail, salmon, and occasionally freshwater eel. Then I'll compliment those with a specialty roll or two. Sometimes I'll just get a spicy tuna roll, extra spicy and then a house roll of some kind.

I had some chilean seabass sushi once before they went endangered. It was some of the best fish I've ever eaten, unfortunately.

unagi ftw. yellowtail too. hell all if it is soooo yum.

oysters are delicious too, but they must be very very fresh. i would imagine it's hard to get uberfresh oysters in Arkansas.

Nothing like having abalone and seeing it try to run away from the chef (I had no idea they could do that).

But yah, sushi good. Oysters good too as long as they're fresh.

Sashimi is the entirely raw stuff. I suggest trying the sushi rolls first, specifically, the ones that have a little raw fish. If you like that, then go for the Sashimi. Raw fish is nothing like raw chicken. Hell, raw chicken would probably make me throwup too. But I love sushi.
