Thanks... I'm not sure what you mean by "holding me back"..... 4.3GHz out of a 2.8GHz processor on middle of the road watercooling and a moderate VCore increase is pretty "wide-open" IMO.....

I do have a VapoChill PE that I can throw into the mix, but in my experience, I am fairly certain that it would only give me an extra 300MHz or so. Not to mention alot of strain on the compressor (and PSU) trying to keep both cores cool.

I am quite happy with the RAM speed/timings also... I really cannot ask for a better balanced OC at this point. I was running a P4 640 OC'ed to 4.4GHz before. An upgrade to dual-core running just 100MHz below my previous OC with much improved RAM speed/timings without needing the VapoChill was very worthwhile to me....

By holding you back I was referring as to if you think the CPU was near it's limit for the cooling you use, or the motherboard options limiting (like voltage drops and the like) or if Cas4 1066MHz DDR2 might give you more options.

Still for the budget it's looking very capable of anything you could throw at it (barring games). I'm actually tempted to purchase a 920/930 and a X1900/7900GTX to see where it gets me. I'd probably settle on 4GHz though.

Err, I think it will handle games just fine as well..the X850 isn't top of the line any more, but can still handle any game out there..

I'm glad Intel is coming out with some worthwhile products again. Their last processor generation was just a ripoff and they got what they deserved for pawning off that artificially cheap junk. AMD has forced them to compete. Without that, I think Intel was just sliding into permanent markettroid mediocrity. Now we'll always watch what AMD is doing along with Intel, and this is nothing but good. I like having choices. Even if the best choice turns out to be from the Oligarchy sometimes.

Their transition away from the disaster that was NetBurst won't be complete until Conroe, but at some point in a couple years I may consider building another Intel machine, probably an SFF. Until then I  my AMD. Even if I'm not cranking out the mad OC that 'Nut here has done.

Good job!

I've got my 920 running at 4.0Ghz and it's been rock solid for over a week now.

It's running on water at the moment, 35C idle, 48C full load (Dual Prime).

I know it's got more it it but I really don't want to push it at this point...

What motherboard are you using? The P5WD2 premium as well? So far that seems to be the ONLY board people are getting good OC"s on with the 920's.

Yup, the P5WD2 Premium. I was using a P5N32 at first but couldn't get past 3.2Ghz no matter what I tried. After switching to the P5WD2 it's been easy going...

If only we could find a more reasonably priced motherboard that the Presler will OC well on :disgust:

Tell me about it, I wasn't too happy about having to shell out 225 for the mb for my 930, but you have to pay to play sometimes. I love the board though, considering i'm at stock v-core with the stock cooler running at 3.75 with the chip idling at 26-28C and hitting 46C under dual prime load. It's cooler then my 640 was at 4 gigs at both idle and load.

I will tell you that P5WD2 is the best mobo i have every owned in terms of OC options and is really stable. My next mobo will be an ausu for sure.

No doubt it's a great motherboard, I've always had good luck with Asus..but trying to find a budget motherboard that will allow the 920 to reach at least 4ghz, that will pretty much give it the best bang for the buck title for dual cores.
