I'm wondering if I'm experiencing a similar phenomenon to something I used to think about with mainstream films: That whenever they did a film about say a computer game character, sweets as characters, or Tetris, or something equally absurd, utterly pointless and shallow just to fill seats at the cinema; I considered it to be scraping the bottom of the barrel, then what is beyond the bottom of the barrel, and so forth. My feelings are similar when listening to Trump or Brexit supporters: Just when you think you've heard the most moronic and mind-boggling thing that anyone could seriously say on a political topic, up pops another moron with a spoon to find out what lies at the bottom of the barrel and beyond.
Urgh, don't remind me. In a way it's nice that Trump is herp-a-derping his way around because it's a distraction from the fact that UK voters have been similarly conned, and probably would fall for such an obvious con-man as Trump.
