P3 650 and Intel 815 EEA

I just got an Intel 815 EEA mobo and a P3 650 FCPGA, I also have 320mb PC100 SDRAM, what can I overclock this to, and how can I do it? I'm not asking for step-by-step instructions (I know that's way too much to ask for) but I'd appreciate a link to a site that might provide me with some help on doing it. Thanks in advance.

Try BxBoards.com - great site! Done by Andy drake in Cambridge, England

Click on the Overclocking Tips section - they got step by step instructions.

Also try overclockers.com - click on CPU database at the top. then, based on your selection, it tabulates for you the given processors overclinkg potential as entered by the loyal readers there, along with all the averages.

Also, of other favorte site is www.tomshardware.com. That guy has got some great resources there!

These three sites will set you up. After about a week of close examination, you can proclaim yourself an OC expert.

If you plan to overclock using an 815 motherboard, then you should be aware that the 815 is not rated to run at 133MHz+ with more than two double sided DIMMs, or 1 double sided and 2 single sided DIMMs. Even at 100MHz it may have trouble with three double sided DIMMs. I hope you don't have two 128MB and one 64MB double banked SDRAM moduels on that 815 motherboard.

You got an Intel Easton i815 EEA board did you? You cannot overclock it since the whole lot is autodetect and has no override like most other boards.

The FSB is autodetect and has no jumpers to change it, or any settings in the BIOS. It's an Intel board....they are against overclocking.

The only way you can overclock that system is to get an new motherboard.

EEK! It's a Intel board, so no OCing for you


But I highly recomend and use Intel boards. We are now building the majority of Intel systems with these D815EEAL (with LAN) and we have had no problems what so ever.
