P3 750 & best motherboard for OC?

I just purchesed a P3 750 and a PNY 133mem stick and wondered if anyone had any suggestions on the best motherboard to get to get the most out of it. I'v been looking at the ASUS P3V4X, hope to get between 900 and 1gig out of the processer. From what I'v read I'll be using the artic silver paste and the golden orb cooler........Thanks for any help........Stress

yeah. P3V4X for via, CUSL2 for intel. both good, same speed with tweaking.

I too purchased a P3 750E to overclock. I also have a P3 800E. I am using a CUSL2 and am having problems getting both of the chips to post at 133 cas 2-3-2 pr 3-3-3. They are both cb0 stepping chips too. I am using Mushkin PC150. The funny thing is I can get both of these chips to run fine at 125Mhz and I can get them to start loading windows at 132 before I stop them. I don't want to hose my windows running the PCI bus that high, but they just will not post at 133. Now my friend has a P3 750 purchased at the same time from the same place and his does 133 and above no problem. The only difference is our memory, he has a 256MB stick of Crucial PC133 Cas 2. I think I am going to get some of that and try it out.

With 7.5X and 8X multipliers you may need to go through a few CPUs from different batches to find a keeper. What kind of cooling are you using and what are your CPU temps under load? What's the voltage? I don't think memory is your problem.

Both chips run around 38c under a 100% CPU load at 1.75v when overclocked to 125Mhz. I am using an Alpha PAL35t with Arctic Silver. I can crank the voltage up but they still will not post at 133Mhz. They will both post at 132 but not 133. I find it very hard to believe that it is not something else preventing this because both behave exactly the same. I won't deny it's possible that it is the chips, just hard for me to believe the way they are acting. I am going to have to see if I can get a stick of Crucual off of a friend to try out.

After a little more searching it looks like its a matter of which chipset you want to go with, the VIA in the P3V4X apears pretty solid, BX is kind of a aging chipset, then there's the new 815 but it has that intergrated sound and video that your paying more for and wont be using.... More reading I quess
Also yes the PNY memory is the cheaper cas3 memory, but sense I'm not trying to go over 133 I didn't think that would be a problem. Overclockers.com said the average for this chip was around 950 but of course you could get a dud........Stress
