P35 Mobo

My apologies if this should be in the General Hardware forum. Mods, please move if necessary.

Will upgrading my rig from a Asrock 939 Dual-Sata II w/a X2 3800+ to a P35 mobo (eg, Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3/4 or Asus P5K Deluxe) w/an E6600 be a significant upgrade for me in terms of performance?

I'll still be rocking WinXP Pro, 2GB of RAM and a X1900XT.

I've been visiting the forums (and shops) and have been on the verge of making a purchase, but for whatever reason (and it may be that the P35 boards are still brand new) I haven't pulled the trigger.

Thoughts?

Non Deluxe Asus P5K ..
I would go p35 just for the cooler running nth bridge, higher fsb, & its quad core ready.

Whatever you buy, try to get the correct memory. Some p35 boards recommend ddr3 which is 2x the price of some ddr2. I would email the manufacturer's tech support and see if they have any recommendations before ordering.

tbh it will depend upon what you consider significant & what your usage is ...
If you do something like video encoding then yes, you'll see some pretty handy improvement but for office work, browsing etc. no.
Games are most likely more GPU bound than CPU bound so if you don't change that you might gain a bit but nothing stunning imo.
