Currently running 3114 mhz @ 1.575 volts. Seems to be the sweet spot. I can do 3131 but have to bump it up to 1.65 volts in bios which is actually close to 1.68/1.7 volts

Going to run it this way for another day or so and try try again!!

I have a week 46 Philippines 2.4b C1 that might be good. Currently running 150fsb default voltage. Booted into XP @ 166, default, just to see if it could do it. I am taking it slow...

My experiences with c1 is that once you hit the wall with default voltage, it won't go much further. No matter what voltage you throw at it.

Yep, I agree with you Jgtdragon... my 1.8a C1 does 3168 at default voltage. No matter what voltage I give the core, it wont clock up any higher.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the highest overclock is for the P4 2.4b C1 with air cooling?

IHS is like the CIA Thugs... it is so stupid it must go

I got the one off the celeron very easy. So easy I took it off my 1.6 willimate also. That added another 192MHz stabilly on it. Alas though I forgot to test the celeron before I removed it. But that celeron was a throw away chip anyway being it scores low @ everything, even @ 2.686GHz.

No fancy X-Acto knife was needed either. I just used a plain ol dull steak knife did the job with ease.

Sorry that ya drew one that didnt go far Thugs. I am tempted to try my luck at getting an SL6RZ from Fry's Portland. Some guy at OC forums has gotten 3 good ones that have done 3.2 at 1.45V. Apparently these are the new multiple VID CPUS.

I just ran P95 all night (9 hours) at 150 fsb. Before that I ran it for about an hour and got an error. I had my memory at 2-2-2-5 @ 400 mhz. I changed my timings to SPD 2-3-3-8 and then P95 ran all night. I am a little disapointed that Corsair PC3200 can't do 2-2-2-5 @ 400... I will run memtest86 but if it throws an error on P95 whats the use.

I just started P95 @ 160 fsb..... lets see if she can make it (memory at 400 mhz, timings by spd).

BTW: How many hours of P95 tortute test is needed at minimum to declare stability? An excepted standards out there?

XMS PC3000 rulz supreme arse over XMS PC3200 or XMS3500.

Should have paid more attention over Thug's threads before being fooled by numbers.

I did Sinful but then there was contoversy on wether the later versions of PC3000 were as good as earlier, plus 3200 was cheaper AND seemed to do 2225 @ 400 in plenty of other systems. GRRRRRR Anyone want to sell some GOOD XMS PC 3000 cheap?

I have started testing mine to 5-6hours of prime and 10pass memtest

2.4@3.06 w/ 1.53v
2.4@3.15 w/ 1.58v
2.4@3.2 w/ 1.63v (1 hour away from completion of prime test, but if it does 4 it will likely do 5hrs...)

so I basically I have gotten 140mhz with .1v increase....proportionally it seems to be matching...

I had to switch to cas 2.5,3,3,6 back at 3.06ghz whichis a farse and shows the epxo boards limitations as that is only340mhz for
ram rated to run 370mhz at cas2...

This could be other things....1) power supply 2)mobo limitations 3) ram and ram settings....

PPL these things should never just hit the wall and stop....you should have a little bit of play...If not, then you have a bum chip like oldfart (used been damaged) or you have some other crappy component limiting you...

I think it has problems doing 145-146fsb on a board he has run as high as 160fsb with a 1.6a.....Then on top of that it hits the wall hard and no settig or vcore gets more....

unless there is a problem with the way the older chipsets deliver power and the c1's not liking it he may have gotten a cpu (which was used) that had been damaged by running to high of a vcore....pre SNDS stuff!!!

Yeah. I bought a used 2.4B. It will do 144 FSB max with 1.55 Vcore. No amount of Vcore will get it any higher. 145 and up will fail Prime95 no matter what I give it for Vcore. I've had other CPU's in here that would run 160 FSB without a blink. I'm sure the board will go higher, but I've never had a CPU good enough to try.

Just like you oldfart I had a C1 2.4b before the one I have now and it would only do 145 fsb. It did that at default voltage and wouldn't go any higher, no matter what.... It hit the wall. Wouldn't even do 146....... The thing couldn't do 5 minutes of P95 above 145...
