no its not a typo, but theres something strange going on here. The Intel pricecut on Monday was supposed to bring 2.53 down to $430 AFTER the launch of 2.66 and 2.6. Note in this link that the 2.6 launch is undetermined so far, but three vendors listed them for sale day before yesterday for a few hours. Then 5 vendors had the 2.53 for $485-$499 for a few hours. Now all the 2.66 disappeared and the 2.53 all went back to $640. But a few hours ago one vendor (PW) went down to $495 again for 2.53. I was never able to get thru on phone to verify existence of 2.66.

Very strange - I wish someone could tell me whats goin on?

Man, you've been a busy one tracking CPU prices, lol! I totally forgot that it was going down when the 2.66 was released. The pattern you are seeing is very strange indeed...

The 2.66 will become readily available in July.

In October, with the debut of the 2.80, and imminent release of the XP 3400+, the 2.53 should be about the same price as the 2.26 is now ($230-$240 online).
