P4 2.53GHZ, what motherboard to use?

Hello, I am building a new pc and I was considering the P4 2.53GHz because the price is reasonable, I might wait another few weeks because I believe the 2.53GHZ might come out with a 800FSB, compared to a 533FSB currently. My question is what is a the best motherboard to use? I was considering the Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 which is fairly new and loaded with features. I was also considering the ASUS SDX but I just don't know. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks for your help

I personally stick to ABIT, or ASUS if the mobo Im looking at specs out in reviews better than the comparable ABIT.

I almost always use ABIT as I have had very good luck with them, both in normal stetups and OC'ed setups. But the new ASUS mobos with the crash free bios is nice too.

I would just read some reviews and decide which mobo to go with. The ABIT IC7 (has NO built in LAN) is selling for $148 at newegg and is the i875P chipset, reviews VERY well at Hardocp.com. NOt a bad price at all for a leading edge mobo.

Another idea which may or may not be good, depending on how you look at it, is to check out the Motherboard Room, I would think that they might possibly have some info about motherboards in there.....

Wait a week or two and get a 2.4C or 2.6C 800 MHz FSB CPU and couple it with a nice 875 or 865 board.

Thanks for your guys help, I was going to wait until I believe about May 21st which is when the new 800MHZ FSB will be available for processor speeds other then the P4 3.0GHZ (wjicjh is curently available), do you think the price will be much higher then the current prices for a P4 533FSB? I know this is the Processor forum but do you guys think that the GA-8IK1100 motherboard would be good? Will the newer processors with the 800FSB support hyper threading?

I would go with the IC7 over the GA-8IK1100 for a few reasons.

Abit is know for being an enthusiast oriented company. It comes with a really nice bundle with stuff like really nice round cables. The IC7 has one bracket for additional Firewire and USB, the GA-8IK1100 has one for USB, firewire, and optical audio. The IC7 has more ports of those than the GA-8IK1100. The IC7 has two optical audio ports on the back panel: one for input, one for output. I dont think from reading descriptions and looking at pictures the GA-8IK1100 has ICH5R (SATA raid built in) southbridge which the IC7 has and does not have on board SATA ports from the south bridge, but from a promise controller (crap, runs off PCI bus). Buying a NIC is no big deal if you get the IC7, I got a Dlink from OD for $10 AR that runs perfectly. The price ofthe IC7 is less too.


Also, all 800MHz CPU being released have HT.
