P4 775 or A64?

Hey all..

I have the ability right now to leave my A64 3000+ @ 2.2ghz for a P4 775 3.0ghz setup....do you think it is a wise move? 64-Bit instructions are of no use to me currently, and I don't keep a machine long enough for it to be important as of yet...

Which do you believe is faster? I haven't really found benchmarks on the 3.0 model, only the 3.4 and up.

I'm an Intel peep , but i would say keep the A64 if you won't OC the 775 much.

I believe the A64 will be faster overall, and I'm sure you don't want a mini-radiator in your room as well.

If you are looking at overclocking then go with the P4

won't board will the 775 be on? the intel overclock lock on most 775 boards will make you oveclock minimum to suck! if it's not on the asus or abit's that get you up to 20-25% boost then amd for sure. if you got the asus or abit then... if you are a big gamer go AMD64, otherwise probably intel.

You should be able to overclock the P4 enough that it will outperform the A64 by a small amount, but only if you spend money on cooling.

I would keep the A64, since it will still be better in games, & could also be OCed nicely if you have a good mobo/cooling.

Stick with the A64, it faster the P4, and runs a heck a lot cooler. The P4 is a sitting toaster oven. (or thunderbird reborn!)

STAY WITH YOUR ATHLON 64. LGA 775 Sucks, is very expensive, hotter, and slower than you actual A64 3000+ computer. Besides you won't be able to overclock that much, since presscots are toasting machines. changing is a stupid decision.
