I have seen what Intel has to offer and its not impressive. Even if prescott arrives the second half of next year at decent speeds its still not enough to overpower Opteron.
Intel has been putting pressure on places for SSE3 which will skew benchmark results becasue nothing has SSE3 in it and that its smoke and mirrors as far as real performance. Would not be surprised to see Prescott scrapped for a P4 with some optimizations. The prescott is not doing well at all. Those are not my words but a friends.
Intel needs to establish themselves with a 64 bit market presence before AMD and they wont have anything until 2005. Not good for those looking to make the move to 64.
I dont want to make any early predictions on Yamhill becasue this will get ugly. But as I hear Yamhill is some sort of Prescott 64. So if Prescott doesnt work then Yamhill wont as well. But that is significantly to early to tell and details are impossible to get on this right now.
