p4 EE socket 478 cooling solution

I have a p4 extreme edition 3.4ghz chip and its overheating like mad and I think my bearings are going on my spire cooling fan/heatsink....anyone recommend a good replacement?
I can look online and see a hanful but anyone have personal experience to go on?

I have a Zalman 7000A on an older 3.0 EE proc, overclocked to 3.45. No heat problems, been runnning for over two years. Then again, the stock HSF would probably have been sufficient.

Did the proc just recently begin overheating, with no BIOS changes? If so, yeah, suspect the HSF. On an off-chance, you might just need to clean up and reseat the HSF with some new paste. Otherwise...I could be completely wrong about this...but you might want to check your voltage, it could be running too high.

Sounds like the deal I got from CompGeeks a while ago. It came with a Spire heatsink.....doubt there's any way that thing will cool that processor.

I used an XP-120 with a 92mm CoolerMaster fan.....cools very well. Put a 120mm fan on it and it would be even better.

If your case is big enough, a Scythe Ninja is another possibility. If your board is the same Intel board as mine, either will work.

I'm running a P4 EE S478 3.4GHz OC'ed to 3825MHz.

It runs 30-40C-ish using a Tuniq Tower 120 @ 1500 RPM.

Don't remember it ever going over 52C, even running orthos...

Spare yourself around $100, get a Tt 120 Extreme with a Scythe S-Flex. Best ir cooling you can get.
