P4 EE too expensive

It will stay that expensive because intel doesn't actually want you to buy it. It is essentially the same chip as an even more expensive Xeon processor, and the only point to its existence is matching the Athlon FX in benchmarks on sites like anandtech.

And in most benchmarks, the AMD still wins. but yes, it was to keep them in the ballpark and not be slaughtered. And the one Bench I read above comparing the Dothan, they compared a 2800+ to the dothan. I don't think that was fair.....

Last time i checked DOthan is staying mobile and intel is sticking with the mhz myth. Where did you here that info.

AMD is just ruling right now.

If everyone used that logic intel would no longer be in business. It's called brand loyalty, and for some reason intel has loads of it.

Yes, the above is very true, and I still don't know how they've managed to keep such a loyal following even though their CPUs are so much more expensive that AMD.. I used to like Intel and strayed away from AMD when they first came out. Then, when I started building more computers for myself and others and saw the difference in price I gave one a shot. Got an XP1800+ for about $75 and was impressed. It outperformed similar Intel chips I had at the time, I've been an AMD man ever since.

probably because when amd was building up their p1 line they weren't exactly the most stable things going. whole runs of cpus had issues and people got a bad taste in their mouth. some people haven't gotten over that bad taste yet, and prefer to go with something more reliable.

oh, and the EE is WAY overpriced.

Doubt it. Millionaires didn't get rich by throwing their money away on silly things.

Sometimes. Theres bascially two types of millionaires. The frugal type, which even a waitress can become over time. Who squirls away every nickle, drives a clunker, and invests in assets not laibilities Sam Walden/Warren Buffet was also this type still living in thier tract home in thier 80's. Then there's the type who make a lot and spend a lot and sometimes lose it only trying to find another million (most sports stars and celebrites are good examples). Just like with poor people, it takes all types. However using the first method, the millionaire next door method, anyone with a job is guarnteed.

An computer is a liability for 99% of the population, only how much of one is the question. EE's are huge
