I'm not too familiar with the early P4 chipsets and compatibility. Would any motherboard supporting a P4 and 400 FSB work? It's currently in a I845 MCH - ICH2 motherboard but a bios flash went awry and I'm trying to get a cheap but reliable replacement motherboard. I wish I could flash it using the boot lock, but instead it just seems to hang with the cmos checksum error and hardware monitor error. I can't access the bios because it won't work with any keyboards or it's just hanging. (of course, if you have advice how to fix the bios, that would also be welcome)
Anyway, <$60 would be ideal. Not going to overclock so it has to be reliable at stock.
