Hi. I just recently upgraded my memory to corsair xms3200 platinum 2x256mb on my P4 1.6a Epox P4BDA2+. @2.4g 1.575v 1:1 mem ratio vdimm@2.7v its running smoothly on my old kingmax ddr333 256mb. On corsair I can run it @2.4g 1.650v 3:4 mem ratio vdimm@2.9v but its not stable as running it on 1:1 mem ratio. Which is better? running my 1.6a on a lower clock speed w/ 3:4 mem ratio or clocking it to a higher clock speed w/ 1:1 mem ratio?

You will be better off with that setup running the 3:4 divider to run your RAM @ 199.5 Mhz vs. running it at 1:1 to equal 150Mhz. You shouldn't have any trouble running that Corsair3200 at 200Mhz though. Try relaxing your memory timings to say 2.5/3/3/7 and see what that does for you.

845D/E/G mobos have stability issues running > 1 stick of ram @ higher speeds. You are better off 1:1 and going for the MHz. You will gain more from the CPU speed than the mem speed anyway.

Add 845PE to the list, I can't get anything over 325ddr with 2 sticks of ram

hmm...is it my board then? It's IT7 Max2v2...I can run up to 325 ddr 2-2-2-5, changing timings to 2.5-3-3-7 doesn't help. And it's with 4:5 ratio, I can't even get past 300 ddr with 1:1 or 3:4....

Have you tried using dimm1 & dimm3? I ran my XMS3200C2's (2x512MB) on IT7 Max2v2 all the way up to DDR425 (170fsb, 4:5 setting) with 2-3-3-6 timing... What memory? What chip? Are you sure both your chip and memory can handle the speed? I'm one of the very impressed users of IT7 Max2 boards for its oc ability and stability...

yup, I tried dimm 1 and dimm3, same results. I even tried my stick 2 in dimm1 and stick 1 in dimm3. I got a 1.6a and 2 sticks geil pc2700. I tested the cpu up to 155 fsb, haven't tried higher coz using stock hsf. And with 1 stick of ram, it can run 400 ddr 2-2-2-5 at 2.6v, better than the corsair pc3200c2 I have. I just can't believe it won't go past 325 ddr with 2 sticks and 2.7v or 2.8v. Do you guys think it's my ram? but I can do 2-2-2-5 at same speed as 2.5-3-3-7, isn't that a bit odd?
