I talked to friendly rep. at the pre-sales dept. Asus yesterday about the lack of availability of their E7205 board (P4G8X). He explained to me that the lack of supply was caused by several factors but the biggest is that Intel was not supplying *any* MB manufacturers with enough chips to make any real quantity. Couple the Nov. 18 release of the board, Christmas, New Years, etc and the process slows down even more. He said that Asus had made about 1000 boards before Christmas but that is all. Now that the Holidays are over he expects Asus to start producing the AGP8X boards more aggressively this month and we should see them hitting the shores in a few weeks.
Since we're talking about the P4G8X, if you haven't read this article on Tom's Hardware page where they overclocked a P4 to 4 GHz on this board take a minute to do so. It?s an unrealistic scenario that most of us would never build but I think it helps sell the P4G8X as good board.
