Some people say this better, some people say that better. Myself haven't own any of Asus board before. can't tell which brand is better. Even i am having an ABIT be6, still can't which is better.

now i know IDE raid is differ from Sata Raid. I have a WD800JB (8mb cache, 80GB), does any of these motherboard take advantage of the harddrive i am using? or i need to buy another harddrive? the harddrive is ATA100, but one or both drive has 2xSata150, does that mean my harddrive is the bottleneck?

Your current HD WD800JB (8mb cache, 80GB) will work perfectly in either board you chose.

I would say the IS7 and P4P800 (non deluxe) are pretty much equal. If you want a simple bios with overclocking options but not the most die hard tweaks, go with the asus. If you want a board that is just as fast but with every bios option you can think of, get the IS7. Im pretty sure you will be satisfied. I did have some problems with my p4p800, but only cause im a moron and didnt install the intel inf driver first. . . . sigh

best o luck

What is this "Intel inf driver?"

About reviews. Man O'Man, is it misleading or what!!!!
I was almost ready to buy MSI, I even dailed the number! Then I thought, let me read some stuff about Asus, I heard all the good things about them. Thats when I bumped into forums like this one, where there are 'misleading' reviews on one side, and good folk users like you all on the other. I am glad I didn't make that call to order MSI Neo. I still haven't bought anything, still doing my research, but pretty much set my mind on Asus P4C800E Deluxe. Hope I'm making the right choice.

Here a huge request to the product 'reviewers', please don't raise a product on top of the tallest building in the world, try to keep em just where they actually belong.

Anybody know of a good place where I can order this Asus board for a good price?

Thanks.

i believe a hs fan is better than just a heatsink.

What kind of connection should i use to hook up my harddriveS.

80gb and 20gb.

now i want more space, so i don't thing RAID is ideal for me...

Is it called the "Serial ATA" that i should be using?

Reading from THG and Firing Squad, they reviewed the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP, and rated it very high.....

should i consider other brand than just Abit and Asus?

this time i really want a good motherboard so i am so hesitated to get one.

Reviews are a snap shot into boards at a moment in time. There have been 5 new BIOS's for my P4P800 since I got it 2 months ago (ordered from GoogleGear the day it came out on a Tuesday, got it by Friday). The problem with people's opinions is they're usually slanted to their current rig. That was the best solution for their money when they bought it. I'd wait for some real reviews, check in on the sticky to see what people think. Asus would be great if they didn't have such extreme CS problems. If you check out the o/c'er sites the MSI is making an appearance suddenly on top of the charts, but I'm more interested in stability than speed.

wow, the gigabyte costs $220+ ?? for a motherboard costing this high, there must be something others don't have.!!!

But i don't do GigaLan, I don't need 6 audio, what else?

now i may not consider the gigabyte, but i still want to hear what is so good about it that abit and asus don't have..

thanks

gigabytes boards are always a little on the pricey side. btw, the ABIT IC7-G is $195 and the P4C800-E DELUXE is $199 @ newegg so they arent far behind

but actually what i am looking for is just IS7, IC7, P4P800 and P4C800...

If i pay extra $50 for a huge performance gain, i will do so... but if i pay $50 for something i won't use... then i may consider it is a waste.

I know some people out there doesn't care about budget that much... for me i need to earn every penny to get my new parts. so i really need to think back and forth.

Just for heads up, you can find retail IC7-G maxII for $180 total shipped and P4C800-E for $194 total shipped. pricewatch.

by no means am i saying that you should get the deluxe or what not, all i'm saying from the same retailer (newegg) they are very similar in price so dont think that the gigabyte is that much better cuz of the pricetag

oh ok, but i don't know.. comparing gigabyte with is7(and similar level), there is more than $70 of difference.. then is it just somehting fancy or there is some high tech stuffs which lower end doesn't have.

What i mean fancy stuff is GigaLan, may not apply to u, but at least fancy for me cuz i don't use.

Its hard to say. Both asus and abit boards seem to have a few problems here and there. I can tell you, in most benchmarks the P4C800 deluxe and P4P800 deluxe are on top. But we are talking about maybe a 5-10 fps difference if that, which really isnt anything. Abit Is7 is good, IC7-G is good. P4C800 and P4P800. Depends on what features you want. I got P4P800 on my gaming rigg, cause it has IDE raid which abit boards dont.

every review i have read has the abit and asus 865/875 right on Par with one another. the performance is almost identical. i dont think you can go wrong with either. this is almost like people tryin to decide between the abit and asus nforce2 boards cuz the performance is soooo close to identical

modempower, the IDE raid u talked about is better for gaming?

isn't all RAID is for backing up data?

Raid has nothing to do with gaming. Raid 0 is stripping which speeds up hard drives, raid 1 is mirroring. This is for IDE drives, the other mobos dont have support for ide raid, just sata which nobody really has yet. P4P800 Deluxe raid does I believe, Raid 0, Raid 1, Raid 0+1, and JBOD.

Does the P4P800 have a functional suspend to RAM capabilty? With HT and all normal features turned on? I like the P4P800 specs and performance but have been burned in the past with certain BIOS options not working with jumperfree mode, which makes me want to go the Abit route.

On the otherhand, the P4P800 specs explicitly state it supports the prescott CPU's...

Thanks,
Frob

in ABIT website, it said the IC7 doens't support CPU with 400Mhz fsb..

what does it mean? however, 533/800 are ok.

Faye - Earlier P4 systems used a 400 MHz front side bus. Then came 533, followed by 800MHz. Abit is saying that the IC7 doesn't support the old, slower 400 MFz FSB. This could matter if you were going to use an older P4 in your system.
