I knwo other had problems so I was worried, but this MB and memory combo seems to work fine for me so far. (p4t533c / kingston 1066 ecc / p4 2.26)

I set it up in "jumper" mode and set to 17x and 133 etc. On boot gave MEMORY error and would not boot up.

I set to JUMPERLESS, and it boots up 100% ok.

Memory is at 4x.

Anyone else have that issue? I double checked my jumper settings and they were all correct.

Weird, but I guess I don't really need the phycical jumper setup to work.

So you would reccomend Kingston pc1066? I have the same mobo with a 1.8a ocd to 2.4ghz 133fsb at 3x and cant quite get my samsung pc800 to oc to pc1066 with 4x.... so i was thinkin of just buying some pc1066 instead. Only stuff i see around really is Kingston tho, at least from reputable retailers like googlegear and newegg. Curious as to whether or not to just grab the kingston now... or wait for some samsung or corsair pc1066 to show up....

Googelgear was good.

I just bought Asus p4t533 MB, Kingston 1066 128m memory, and p4 CPU from Googlegear, and they seemed quite good.

Not the very cheapest place, but all went smoothly, and all in stock.

My problem is a little different. It freezes up when I try to boot up. I have to manually power off. When I restart I get a cpu frequency error in the bios menu. I know it is correct (2.26ghz) and I F10 it and it starts up ok. Sometimes I boot up and it detects on 64Mb or ram (I have1024Mb) and it takes forever. If I restart it nothing changes and I turnoff the system. When I start up again I get the frequency error but it detects all the ram. I have it in jumperless mode and left everything else in default setting. I'm running the 2.26 P4 with 4 (256Mb) kingston 1066 rambus ont he P4t 533-c. I put a TX2000 Raid cca with 2 80Gb maxtors in raid 0. When I install Win XP Pro everything is fine. I start installing the drivers and after a couple reboots it starts freezing up. I repositioned the raid , sound, nic and reinstalled XP and reformatted the drives. Still does it. I'll set the memory to 4X and see what happens.

I have a P4T533-C and am running 512MB (2 x 256MB) of Kingston PC800. I was running this RAM at 4x and it was fine, I had no problems at all. This was also running on BIOS version 1003.

Now, just for information. I upgraded to 1005 Beta 2 I think it was and started to mess with my memory set to 4x. Well I got a corrupt registry and had to reinstall WInXP. I thought I'd fried my memory cos I was getting an eroor something like "BAD_MEMORY_POOL".

So, what I am trying to say is that Kingston PC800 may have problems running at 4x when running the latest BIOS. Just be carefull.

Gentlemen:

I have been following the subject of the P4T533-C and its compatibility issues since its release, and I have noticed and learned a few things.

When this board first came out, Asus stated on its message board that it only officially supported Samsung 1066 chips. Why that is, who knows; but a Tech, I am not.

Only reason I make mention of this, is since Kingston 1066 has been more easily able to be found then Samsung, most of the experiences with this board have NOT been with Samsung. Kingston, from what I understand, uses Toshiba chips. The results using Kingston vary; running the spectrum of no problems, to many. I've also heard of those able to get their system running with Kingston, but experiencing corrupted files using programs in a Windows environment. Just repeating what I've heard and read of others experience.

In addition to the above; I also have learned that the Geoforce 4 Ti-4600 produced by Visiontek does not run at 1.5 volts; which is what this Asus board requires.

Today I finally placed my parts order. My order was for the Asus P4T533-C board, Asus GEO4 Ti-4600 card, with Corsair 1066 rdram. Corsair uses Samsung chips; and based on the experience of techs I know, they have found this ram to be far more stable with this board.

Why it is that non-samsung parts have issues with this Asus board is a mystery to me; and one I am sure will be resolved over time.

I'll keep you updated after my system is built next week, and the tech gods willing, all will be good!

Terrapin, perhaps ASUS are aware of this, I mean of course they are aware of this as they would not go to the trouble of mentioning SAMSUMG PC1066 in their Mobo manual. I have seen 6, yes 6 BIOS updates since it's release with no news as to what it is fixing, or even making worse. (Can't run my Kingston PC800 at 4x now!).

Just a thought, have you thought of the ASUS P4T533 which supports PC1066-32. If I am correct, this mobo supports 232 pin RIMMS as opposed to 184 pin jobbies. I sorta wish I had waited a week longet then I think I would have bought the P4T533 instead. In the UK I'm seeing 232 Pin RIMMS available all the time.

For those in the UK who are trying to find SAMSUNG PC1066 and PC1066-32 try Overclockers UK. I have bought from these on a number of occasions and they are OK.

Shagga:

Hi. I'm confused. What specifically is the difference between the P4T533 and the P4T533-C ?

I thought the P4T533-C supported 1066 32 bit as well, but perhaps I'm wrong and this is the only difference. If so, I have no plans to use 32bit, but if the P4T533 is more trouble free, it's a great suggestion.

I just wanted to report I now have a stable build on my computer.

Hardware:
Asus P4T533C w/Onboard LAN
1024MB of kingston 1066RDRAM
Intel P4 2.4B Ghz
Running in Jumperless mode, FSB @ 133, Memory @ 4x.
3x 80GB Maxtor ATA133 HDD w/ Maxtor ATA133 IDE Card
Plextor 40x40x12x CDRW
Creative Labs 12x DVD drive
Iomega ATAPI Zip 250
VisionTek Xtacy GeForce TI4600 1.5V
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
3com Performance Pro Modem
Creative Labs DXR3 DVD Decoder Card
450w Power Supply

It seems that the hardware was just too powerful for Windows Millenium, installing a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro fixed everything.

Funny how Kingston advertizes its' 1066 RDram for the P4T533-C yet Asus did not ...
now i can't find that on the asus.com site that the only PC1066 RDram is samsung's .. i guess they
took it down now.

dbarton:

I tried your settings (jumperless & memory at 4x), my system boots up ok. Thanx !!!

I called Kingston to find out if there is anything else we need to do. They have a P4t 533-c in the lab and setting the memory to 4x is the only thing to get it to boot.

As far as I know 4x is the speed it is suposed to run at, so all is good, yes?

Comments anyone?

Hey dbarton, I have the same set up as you (p4t533-c, kingston 1066, and P4 2.26). Have you had a chance to overclock your P4 yet? I want to try it but was just wondering about some of the results before I did. If so, could you please let me know what you've found out, good or bad. Thanks.
