Back in November I read a post from someone in the forums here that explained how to use AHCI SATA after installing Windows but I guess the archive monster has eaten it.
Anyway, as I remember it, it goes something like this:
1. Install Windows on boot drive attched to ICH8R in IDE mode
2. Install the JMicron SATA drivers from Windows
3. Switch boot drive connection from ICH8R to the JMicron controller
4. Go into BIOS and set ICH8R SATA to ACHI, set JMicron to IDE
5. Boot into Windows and install Intel Storage Matrix drivers for ICH8R
6. Switch boot drive back to ICH8R SATA connector
7. Boot to Windows
For some reason I get an error message "Error loading operating system" as I am trying to do step 5. It never gets to start booting Windows as far as I can see.
The odd thing is that I know this worked back in November. I am probably just missing something.
Anyone know how to pull this off?
Thanks!
