P5K deluxe acting very wierd? Please help.

Hi, this was my first build. I have a P5K Deluxe wifi-ap. I also have an E8400 processor, and corsair xms2 6400 (800MHz) memory. Everything was going very good for the first few days, and I didn't change any settings from the updated bios. I have always noticed that when I monitored the speed at which my processor was running, that it would change the CPU multiplier to 6 to make it run at 2.0 GHz. I thought that this was what intel speedstep technology was suppose to do, but the bios setting showed that this was disabled. The first 3 days, the processor showed a very consistant front side bus speed of 333.33 MHz. I have always monitored everything with the Al Suite software that the motherboard included. I have run memtest 86+ several times checking for errors, and the last time I tried to run it, the program wouldn't open, and stayed to a black screen with some numbers popping up that looked like programing code. From this point on, everything has gone south. The front side bus would go below 300 MHz. In the bios, it showed that my E8400 was clocked at 2.4 GHz on the CPU specs page.

I reflashed the bios hoping that this would take care of everything, and it did until I restarted the computer after installing my printer software. I then reflashed again, and this time it didn't help at all. I shut the computer down for the night and started it back up again this morning, and it is holding around the 333.33 bus speed, but it isn't consistant like it use to be. It will jump from 332-336 MHz alll the time. I have even tried going into manual settings and setting the CPU front bus speed to 333 MHz, but it is still inconsistant. What in the heck is going on. there is no pattern to the chaos. The front side bus speed will just randomly go crazy. I am confused and don't know what to do from here. Please help.

Is spread spectrum disabled?

No, Cpu spread spectrum is set to "auto".

I tried something that might be stupid, but I read about it and it seemed like it would work. It seems for some reason that when I flash or even just changeg settings in the bios, it isn't taking effect. I felt like the flashing process was really not working even though it said it did. I purposely put in some memory timings that I knew the computer would go automatically to the crash free bios which would take over and default all of the bios values. I used the example that Asus gave that would be unstable and cause the crash free bios to go into effect and default all values. I also just wanted to know if this feature actually worked. Since then, my computer has been acting a lot better. It is staying way more consistant, but what could cause my problems. I just wonder if I did another temporary fix. I want to know if something is wrongs so that I can get it taken care of. I will say that this computer is faster than any computer I have ever been around for the applications that I run. Does anyone know what might be happening?
