not sure why you want a 750w range for a single GPU, unless you want a future option of SLIing/CF your current card, or the 6990 beast

and more specs? how many hdds, other cards, affects what you want to get

Here is a great tool to figure out what you need for a power supply http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp. On my system without overclocking I was at 378 watts needed. Since you are looking at a system close to that I have you shouldnt be much higher then that I am at.

Gotta agree with the above posters. For a computer with a single video card, anything over about 500 watts is overkill...
Personally, I don't like to load my PSU past about 70% of its capacity, but I DO prefer to buy quality PSU's that will deliver clean reliable power. If that means buying one a bit larger than I NEED, so be it...as long as I don't go overboard and stay within the range of the unit's peak efficiency.

Good quality 500W is plenty and will put you right in the efficiency curve.

Not sure which video card yet. Either the new ATI or the 590 when it comes out. I have 5 hard drives, plus all the standard equipment. Will prob never go with SLI/Crossfire or anything.

Well I have a GTX 285 now (Evga motherboard, 5hdd, c2d processor e6800 I think) and all seems to run fine. Gotta pawn this computer off onto my little bro since his his horrid so building a new one. Which brand PSU's should I stick to?

corsair, xfx, silverstone, certain ocz models[read reviews first], seasonic, pcp&c...
if you dont want to read reviews and decide corsair is probubly your best bet...
be careful tho as there are some real duds out there...very important to have a quality p/supply

Based on what you're stating, you have no need for anything over 600 Watts. If you want a pad for second vidcard, go 650w.

The best deal in this range seems to be the XFX 650 Modular. 80 Plus bronze. Seasonic sourced, <$100 to buy <$70 after rebate.

I agree with the xfx modular 650 I'm actually waiting rightbnow on delivery of one along eithbanother 5770 for fire. It's a great psu (see hardware secrets review of non-modular version). With the rebate you can't beat it.

Look at Corsair, Enermax, Seasonic or a high-end Antec with 600W+ and you'll be fine. XFX or Corsair 650W (both of which use Seasonic as their manufacturers) are fantastic.

I went with the XFX 650 as well
