P8P67-Pro and OCZ Vertex 2 SSD problem

New build with the OCZ plugged into the first Intel SATA II port. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit fresh install and Windows Experience lists the slowest item is the disk transfer rate of the primary drive at 5.9? Is there a driver or something I am missing or is it possible this is being skewed by the other SATA HDs in the system?

This is incorrect as I get 7.9 with my crucial c300 ssd on a sata 3 port.

To the OP, did you install with AHCI enabled in bios?

Agreed, I get 7.7 with my Intel X25-M 120GB G2. Something's wrong.

I installed the Intel chipset drivers and Intel Management Interface drivers downloaded from ASUS. AHCI is enabled in the BIOS and was before the install. Just checked and write caching is enabled as well.

Windows Experience means nothing to me.

Also I checked in the registry and IaStorV Start is not set to 0 but msahci Start is set to 0 and I see the standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA devices in device manager.

Doesn't look bad to me but I dunno what size drive you have.

I'd be looking for other drives like yours and comparing tests.

After some research I think what it did was pick up one of my spindle drives when it did the Exp test, the Crystal results look close to others so I am assuming all is ok. I don't want to beat on it with a bunch of benchmarking, it is a OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 120GB drive.

I had the same issue as you. I had to change the boot drive priority and list my SSD first. It had another drive listed as the first HD in the boot priority, but since there was no OS on it it skipped over it pretty quickly and booted directly from the SSD. I didn't even realize it until I noticed the 5.9 score.

As soon as I did this, seemed to include the SSD in the WEI, as my score went from 5.9 to 7.7 (Microcenter branded 64GB SSD).

I said HARD DRIVE. SSD is not hard drive.

The G2 with latest firmware is still about as fast as the intel x25-m 80gb some ways faster some ways slower.

Make sure you upgrade the firmware to avoid the BSOD/sleep issue.

It's a great drive for the price and ADATA was selling the S599 for $98 recently on amazon (keep an eye out). So far i have a callisto deluxe that still has some cold start boot issues. the G2 must have some newer firmware.

I think your numbers are good and you should feel happy about the purchase as it is a fast drive (compared to a HARD DRIVE (spindle) solid state is the best upgrade of century
