P8P67 Pro Audio problems after swap

Changed out to the B3 replacement and now the Audio is inop. Windows thinks everything is enable via the device manager and the RealTek HC audio mgr detect when speakers or headphones are plugged in, but no sound. Volume output is 100% and not muted.

Windows "troubleshooting" reports that the Audio Device is Disabled, though device manager and Sound control panel show it enable? Checked for updated drivers, shows as up to date.

Setup worked prior to swap, no (intentional) changes to Windows install.

Thoughts?

these seem to pop up a more now
just had one here few days ago

Note: any time you change something here - reboot
First: install this:
http://majorgeeks.com/Win7codecs_d5959.html
Then you should do this, then make sure for Realtek "this device is working properly"

then you must have speakers Realtek as your default device
If you cant do this, you have a prob.

Now heres the interesting part:
Just a few days ago my friend had the same prob on his wifes computer. So I went over there and tried everything I knew and couldnt get sound. Totally pulling my hair out I tried something. I downloaded a flv file from youtube music video (not wmv or avi. - many wmv or avi files wont play sound on WMP because they are not "true" MS wmv. I then manually associated the file with WMP - even tho it was already so in file associations
I then clicked the flv and it played!
I almost fell off my chair.
Why - I dont know, perhaps associating a media file with WMP while Realtek only was enabled?
Strange stuff.

I got the exact same problem with the P8P67 pro B3. Windows will detect when speakers and headphones are plugged but I get no sound. USB headphones works tho.

The options above and those scoured from other support forums didn't end up working, but I went ahead and installed Windows again on a different drive to test and sure enough, it works fine. Certainly something messed up in the driver layer. Device Manager reports the same driver and version now installed in both copies, but the new install works and the old one does not.

I know it's too late this time, but I have always found the install goes quicker with less problems, if you disable all on-board devices in the BIOS, then go back and install each one individually and pointing to the driver, rather than let the OS do it automatically ..

Man these P67 have so many crazy things going on. Never seen anything like it before.

Thats interesting - thnx for coming back with outcome
pinkfloydhomer had same prob but installed Win 7 X86 and X64 no fix, but on same HDD
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2155344

When you swapped out mobo, did you install same HDD with old stuff, or did you do a fresh install? I'm betting no fresh install. Were both O/S install SP1 integrated, or what state of update?

Win 7 with the install created new HW hash ID, and it KNOWS when you change mobo, even if exact same model - some folks have to revalidate over phone, because mobo has heaviest weight in hash evaluation for genuine.

So this brings out a few new possibilities, because it leaves out the Realtek chip as the prob.
1.) P67 Southbridge has HD audio channel, no way to install Win 7 without getting it in dev man with MS drivers. Then Realtek adds another.
2.) Overclock was marginal, and caused mem errors/corruption when installing RT
3.) Since audio video entails DRM stuff, maybe Win will not allow prev install media stuff sw-hw to function if hash changes - its a "dif" PC to WMP for example.
4.) Also i use Comodo Inter Sec and it puts things it is unsure of in a sandbox and creates a virtual install that floats stuff over the true O/S. It runs, but does not add everything to "real" registry. But I install it AFTER drivers all in

I'm leaning towards #3
