i had a 965 board, the operative word being HAD. I think the BIOS they have for the 965 boards that "support" 45nm are BS. It's sketchy at best. I just received my ep35-DS3P mobo today. I'll probably post another thread about the combo tonight, hopefully from that mobo.

hmm. can you go any higher than 266fsb/2.4Ghz in windows?

and you say that it was running at 3.0Ghz in windows at first , then suddenly not?

i flashed my 965p-dq6 3.3 this weekend with a friends e6600 , but i still don't have the e8400 to test it out in . if it wont recognize at 3.0Ghz this has all been a huge waste (selling old e6600 at a loss to get e8400, $20 RMAing the old mobo , and a 3 hr drive to a friend with an e6600) cause i will end up having to get a p35 anyway \ :

I have not try to OC under windows. Yes it was runing at 3.0Ghz but not anymore, will only run at 2.4 under load and 1.6 iddle. I don't know what to do. I sure as hell not going to buy a new mobo as i pay close to 250 about a year ago for this one.

I'd rethink that - you can probably get $150 for that mobo which is what I paid for this EP35-DS3P

No i'll wait, im kind of tired of getting the shaft from Intel, i'll hang till AMD can get something stable out and jump ship to them. At least they are not out to sell you a new motherboard everytime a new CPU comes out.

Yes i am that upset about it.

Just wanted to let you all know that it is working correct again. Lat night after i power off, i cut the power to the computer by flipping the PS switch to the off position. About a few hours later i turn it on and it was working correctly again.

By working correctly again you mean recognizing at 3.0 Ghz (333x9) ?
If so, great news! Have you tried going past 333 FSB when its been working also?

[[btw screw buy.com , i ordered my e8400 january 31st and still no word on it \: ]]

I can confirm that my board died after I tried it with the E8400 also. I had the E6600 in there for a year with no problems, put in the E8400 and it wouldnt post. I just figured that it didnt work and never tried the board after that. I ended up selling the board and the person who got it couldnt get it to post... so I guess the E8400 messed it up. the fans would come on but no video. stupid chip... I had to give him a refund

I have my e8400 running no problem on my P965-DS3 rev 3.3 It didn't recognize my processer properly on first bootup either and set the multiplier to 9.5 instead of 9. I simply set the fsb and multiplier correctly, rebooted, and everything worked fine. I'm currently running at 4.05 GHZ (450*9) stable on my board.

hit or miss I guess- I tried in vain for days with old CPUs to get mobo to boot. I had set it to all defaults prior to the e3110 too
