Packing for ski trip

First off I have never been out West before, only "real" place has been Blue Mountain in cananda and only for a couple days. The trip will be flying out of OH to WY. When I went snowboarding in Canada I didnt get cold at all, temps were around 30. Is it recommended I bring long underwear or some sort of thermal undergarment at an elevation of 10,000'? I do not plan on stopping and sitting, just snowboarding. I have a good Columbia ski jacket, some waterproof ski pants, some good gloves, and a decent second pair just in case. I plan on bringing sunscrean and lip balm. There is a local MC Sports closing and has 50% off helmets, is it adviseable? Sorry for all the questions, just not sure what to expect I have never been snowboarding for more than a day at a time, and we are doing 4 days! Anything else I should bring, anything at all. We plan on bringing a lot of pasta and probably a lot of water.

Prepare for the worst and dress accordingly.

I wear only long undies and boardpants, plus good snowboard socks for the bottom. Long undies, fleece, jacket, good hat for the top. That's good to about 20 degrees.

Stay dry, always have dry clothes. Two pairs of undies would be a good idea as they are very important. Don't get cheap undies...get ones made for skiing. Two sets of gloves is a must.

It depends on what kind of boarding you're going to do. If you're just freeriding down the intermediate, you probably won't need a helmet. But if its cold and you're doing jumps in the park and going down double black diamond runs, I'd advise it. If you're doing night runs, I recommend goggles and a balaclava.

Best bet is to bring a small knapsack with an extra layer to add if needed & room to dump a layer or two if it gets warmer then expected ... make sure to have goggles + lots of sunscreen, plus a bottle of water & some munchies.

Also be advised that when the signs at Jackson Hole say "Experts only" THEY ARN"T KIDDING and you just might find yourself in some deep doo-doo if you ignore them... I'm a true life-long expert skier & let me tell you theres some terrain on that mountain that'll get you killed easily if you arn't ready for it. (and trust me, an "expert" who only skiis/rides on the east coast is a high intermediate by Jackson Hole standards... keep it in mind)

I always carry a few things in a pack - I love my Hellion. In addition to water or gatorade in the bladder, I always have at least an extra base layer top, liner gloves, some sort of hat or balaclava and lip balm. Not so much of a big deal in the east where i spend all my time, but you might want to grab something that is recco equipped if you do plan on doing the double blacks or tree weaving trails. Hope you have a great time and remember not to hit the double blacks after too many drinks in the lodge! (personal experience talkin there )
