If the legal system doesn't want to put him in jail and he has already served an NFL suspension I see no reason why he shouldn't play this year, in fact I am hoping my Cowboys end up getting him because he is a freaking beast.

Exactly my thoughts on this. I don't care what he's done off the field. If he's not in jail, let him play. People get so excited about this stuff. I hope the Lions pick up Vick when he gets released.

Who gives a shit what he does off the field period? The problem isn't that athletes are poor role models, the problem is that people look up to athletes as role models. WTH does somebody who runs fast know about being a good person?

Drug testing and these kinds of things ONLY exist to mitigate the image of the black athelete to a predominantly white consumer base. It's all about selling the product, and to get past the inherent prejudice in middle america one must market it the right way.

Adam Jones is a ball player, and a very talented one. I'd love to see him play ball next year, regardless of what kind of person he is. As if we *really* know any of these people anyway.
And I'd love to see the guy that was paralyzed because of Pacman walk again.

Good points. On second thought I'm feeling more like. Go ahead and break the law just do not expect to have a job after your debt is paid. If he was convicted and paid his debt, why hold that against him.

I'm going to have to disagree with the drug usage policy, what you say is pure racist BS.

How is my assertion racist?

From webster's:
racism
One entry found.

Main Entry: rac·ism
Pronunciation: \'ra-?si-z?m also -?shi-\
Function: noun
Date: 1933
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

Are you saying that I'm racist against white people for thinking that prejudice remains today? Is that even possible given my hue? Are you denying that the vast majority of the football viewing base is unaware of race when they watch the games or see players? I'd say the preponderance of evidence is against you if that is the case. It may hurt your feelings when somebody points out that prejudice does still exist in this country, and that people of all colors are guilty, but it is in fact true. It's not even limited to race - tall people make more money than short people, men make more money than women, and those who speak 'eloquently' will make more money than those who speak in ebonics.

It's not racist to engage in discourse on the subject. If there is in fact a problem, then maybe it's racist to resist discussion about it, since through that resistance you're complicit in keeping the brotha down and all.

And if Pacman is guilty of a crime, then our justice system should work and punish him accordingly. If he is unavailable to practice and/or play because of incarceration, then the team should release him. They could even seek to recoup signing bonus' and stuff like that since through his own actions he has reneged on his contractual obligation to the team.

If our justice system finds that he's OK to roam the streets, then the team should be making decisions solely upon how he's going to play. I'm just lamenting the fact that the media (and obviously the viewers) make such a big deal out of whether or not he's a poor role model that keeping him on the team can lead to lost revenue, distractions, etc. Although I understand the reality of the situation, it doesn't mean I have to like it.

And my post above was simply me talking about how I think it got to be the way it is.

Actually you can't blame Dalllas, they've always pout winning ahead of moral character like most other teams. On the other hand the Commissioner can step in and ban that piece of shit for life which he should do and he wouldn't catch that much flack for it, especially from fans.
