Per a post on HOFO from Denny Scher:

Effective October 31, 2012, the Talk n Text 1200 and the Unlimited Talk n Text plans will be getting an increase in data allotments. The amount of data provided on the Talk n Text 1200 plan will increase from 100 MB to 250 MB. Data provided on the Unlimited Talk n Text will double from 100 MB to 200 MB.

Customers currently on either plan will start receiving the additional data on their next renewal following the 10/31 effective date.

Denny Scher
Marketing Manager, Page Plus Cellular

So now we have Unlimited Talk & Text + 200MB data for $39.95 and TnT1200 which is 1200 Minutes, 3000 Texts and 250MB data for $29.95, minus the usual pin card discounts from the usual sources.

Also, they are flattening their overage rate for talk, text and data to $0.05/minute/text/MB. Period.

$0.05/MB!!!!

Thanks for the info. I've been on PP for over year now and love the coverage on Verizon, and have been making do with 100mb/month. That is actually plenty for me to check e-mail and do light web surfing at work. At 250 MB and those low overage rates I might even start to stream Pandora occasionally. They do need to start allowing 4g phones. I think the Dinc2 is the best 3g phone going....and that's getting pretty long in the tooth itself at this point.

Nice of them to do it. Still frustrated that you are essentially stuck at 2 year old, and rapidly aging technology without an incredibly massive amount of work arounds and hacks.

Straight Talk has the upper edge there by a long shot. Sucks because I'm heavily entrenched in Verizon country and AT&T's coverage blows.

I think that Galaxy Nexus, being 4g, would be requiring massive work arounds and hacks to get it working on PP, unfortunately.

Currently requires flashing a third party rom, a Sprint baseband radio (or using a Sprint GNex in the first place), and a donor phone to get some values off of if you want working data.

Go ahead... ask me how I know. :sneaky:

That said, there's a new Verizon-based MVNO that will be opening up shop supposedly beginning of next month, and they have already said they expect to have Verizon 4g LTE service sometime "late Q4/early Q1". It's a safe bet that if a brand new startup MVNO claims they'll be getting access to Verizon's LTE network in that time frame, PagePlus will too, if not earlier given their position as Verizon's #1 partner/reseller.

Think there's any chance that method would work with the upcoming Galaxy Note 2?

There's always a CHANCE, but odds are probably not. It's new enough that the people that mod stuff haven't really gotten a chance to look at it yet, and given the price mucking around with it is a bit risky.

Best bet, read my edit to my last post... you'll probably just want to wait a couple months.

To you point about the Nexus, thats pretty impressive... I am simply unwilling to undergo a project like that since I work too much these days...

Regarding the MVNO you mentioned, Talk For Good I believe, I hope you are right about Page Plus getting 4g as well. I'm not holding my breath unfortunately but I guess I'm just pessimistic about Verizon giving up one of it's primary competitive advantages yet.

I'd get on the 29.95 plan for sure if I could get one of the 4g phones... I don't NEED much mobile data, being on wi-fi at work and home. Its more of a check my bank account/look up prices when I'm shopping... practical stuff.

$55 per month for unlimited everything is pretty good, especially if it has 4g

I'm really torn on these popup MVNO's like TFG and Ting. Ting in particular because of the *currently* locked in phones. I'd hate to buy a $500+ SGSIII for Ting and then have them flop in 6 months when that Japanese company buying a huge chunk of Sprint lays the hammer down on them.

Same with the Verizon MVNO's. I can't see how Verizon would ever open up LTE to them. It's their cash cow. It's their retention policy. Even recently with the iPhones it was a cash play between VZW and PP with Verizon wanting to keep high priced subsidy phones locked in under their corporate billing.

I could see them doing something like AT&T does with ST and letting modern phones connect, but not giving them the LTE love. That would be the best of both worlds for both Verizon and PP. Verizon keeps LTE users locked in under their caps. They jettison off 3G users. And Page Plus picks up the scraps with a BYOD plan where people can bring unlocked/out of contract devices over that are current, high feature phones and connect them without having to do flashes, hacks, ect.

Ting isn't going anywhere soon. They're backed by Tucows, so they're in it for the long haul. Plus Ting will have BYOD here shortly. Ting also is trying to line up "alternative" carriers under their stable, most likely AT&T or T-Mo (they're looking to add GSM capability to their offering).

PagePlus has been around for a long time now, I believe about 7 years. Again, they're Verizon's #1 private reseller, they make Verizon way too much money to shut down.

Regardless, I'd bet you're more right about VZW MVNO's and LTE. I'd be shocked if they get it, especially with the plans they have. But apparently Verizon hasn't been worried over the last several years on their CDMA network, AND they will be working on shutting down the network over the next 10 years, so there has to be SOME sort of arrangement sooner rather than later.

I find it hard to believe Verizon would allow prepaid to offer lte for half the cost. There would have to be some stipulations so the prepaid plans would not be as good. I would love to get lte on prepaid for half cost, just don't see it happening for quite some time.

That plan is good but Verizon 3G suck donkey balls.
Good for checking emails and other very light stuff.
If this was ATT or Tmobile 3G @$29.99, thats a great deal.
