Holy crap!!! I never thought I would run into fellow paintballers on here!
Sniping in paintball is not sniping in its traditional sense. It focuses more on the stealth aspect of sniping rather than the long range aspect. I used to shoot a Phantom pump(It was purple... Muhahaha (Made by CCI)). It was quite accurate, but no moreso than any other marker with a proper paint-barrel match. The really nice part about it was how quiet and light it was. I could maneuver it very freely and shoot without being located (by sound). I never considered myself a sniper, but I was quite stealthy. People that believe that there are snipers in the sport of paintball would have considered me a sniper, I guess...
I started playing pump after about 4 years of playing semi. I decided to make the switch to test how good I really was, to hone my skills, and to use less paint. After about a year and a half of playing with the pump, I sold the Phantom, and bought a B2K4 with PDS... I am now a force to be reckoned with. Hehe... But yeah. I'd suggest that anyone who has never played pump should try it. Good stuff...
As for ANY marker made by Brass Eagle or any of its counterparts (JT/VL), you should stay away from them... If you are a tweaker and are looking for a good project gun, I would suggest a BE Rainmaker(long since discontinued, but available if you look hard enough), but other than that, I don't suggest anything by Brass Eagle. For low end markers, go with a Spyder.
