painting a monitor

I got this 19" Hitachi 752 and was thinkin instead of blowin $280 on a black flatscreen hitachi, i should just paint this one since it still suits my needs. im makin a rig where everything is gonna be black so i need to paint my monitor the same color. if anyone has done this, got any tips?

I dyed my 21" Nokia 445X Pro black. It took me a couple of days because I took it apart and had to take out knobs, buttons, lights, and circuit boards. It came out pretty nice, though. It looks like it came that way.

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd post some before, during, and after pics...

Whatever you do don't touch the anode inside the monitor. Something like 20,000 volts and it holds the charge even when it's unplugged.

No, just don't touch any of the internals. Those caps can store lethal levels of voltage for YEARS. Service techs have special tools for draining them.

Yes and they are really expensive, a insulated handle screwdriver and a little jumper wire to ground the blade.
The caps will not hold a charge for long as they have a bleeder resistor across them to discharge them in less than a minute.
