What kind of paint do I need to paint my case purple? I have a steel orange corsair case that I just bought and my mom would like me to paint it purple for her.

Can I change the standard orange LED fans that came with it to a different color?

Make sure you not only choose the right material, but prepare the surface for adhesion.

Your mom sounds cool!!

For fun:

Thanks dude! I never thought to look at another forum site! She is totally awesome!

My first take was any good, laquer based spray paint. But I need more info.

Important to not let any material near ports, innards or like that.

Maybe you could take a pic of it when you finish and put it up? The new Barney case.

Yes!! she does sound awesome!

I wouldn't even bother trying to paint it yourself. When I attempted to do this using spray paint it cost me over $50 in materials. It only cost me $20 to get a case powder coated at a local shop. They took care of all the prep work and offered to mask any parts I didn't want painted but I had already removed the sections I didn't want painted.

Power coating! Brilliant! But that, $20 (????) was the bargain of the millenium.....no way where I live would such cost that.

There are people who will airbrush/detail cases exactly as they do bikes and hotrods. Not that the cool mom wold want that, but there really are such people.

Probably cost me $150+ here if there was any place here that would be it which isn't very likely.

Think I'd rather buy stuff and do it myself. Since it can probably be done for less then $50...it's a small case.

I feel the same/would do the same.....but the powder coating idea, I think, was still brilliant. Where I live, $20 gets you 8 brussel sprouts and a half gallon of almond milk.

I think the $20 event was unique. And from what I have been seeing on the interwebs, that appears true.

Then, we have the sometimes issue re powder coating gets into screw holes....and that can sometimes be a problem.

I guess I leave everything black cause I like unobtrustive re computers and peripherals... but we are each unique!

I would be happy to provide contact information for the shop I used if anyone is interested. To clarify, I had a full tower case that I needed the frame and motherboard tray (no side panels) painted black to match the panels. I went in and chose a black they frequently used and that was it.

The key is finding a production powder coating facility. This was not a retail outlet. All they did was add my case into a production run of 1000+ pieces. For them it was just extra money as they would have been running production anyways.

I'm getting so excited!

I am too!!!!! This is very fun! Way more than troubleshooting BSODs!

Always retaining childLIKE (ingenuous, filled with wonder) while divesting ourselves of childISH......I think, is very big thing in life!

Your enthusiasm is very wonderful and life affirming!

AAAAAAAnd.....we KNOW where you get it from! THAT....is a BLESSING.
