I'm getting conflicting information on this matter from various documentation source I've been reading.
The install manual doesn't even mention how it should be installed... reason why I'm looking for the answer.

So should I be installing my Delta 68cfm fan so that it sucks air away from HS/CPU or onto it?
What would happen if I used either way? Meaning could this damage the CPU? Well guess it
would if it didn't provide adequate enough heat disepation.

Thanks.

while most HS are designed to have air blown onto them, the 8045 is designed to have air blown away from it. if you want to test it out to see what the best results with your case airflow setup would be (though it will most likely be with air blowing away) i would suggest trying it both ways and checking in the bios if your at a safe temp, and if so doing some tests in windows...

You could damage the cpu if you didn't have enough ventilation. tom did this removing the heatsink and the fan from the core on p4, p3, tbird,xp the Intel chips have great temp management and had the core and mobo survive however the amd chips melted to the board so as long as you have some fan movement you should be fine but there will be an optimum way to put it on your board that you'll need to test, just don't take off the hs

take a gander at this Alpha PAL8045 info.

Note that the induction value is higher than the expulsion value, lower is better. My Panaflo L1A is blowing away from my Alpha, I tried both ways and this one seemed marginally cooler.
