I'm considering going back to FF because after one of the recent Pale Moon updates I've started getting random browser crashes for no apparent good reason.

I never had this issue. What OS and resolution and dpi are you using? Does Ctrl-0 (Zero) reset it back to 100%? Maybe Opera uses different fonts by default?

I'd try disabling all addons and see if this fixes it.
Also you could download a portable version of Palemoon and check if pages are shown properly by default or not.

You can also go to "about:config" in Palemoon and set "browser.zoom.siteSpecific" to "false" and select a zoom level that fits you. Palemoon will then use this zoom level for all pages.

funny thing about it is I only notice it on certain forums. this one and another one. and once I change it manually it does not revert back it stays to whatever I set it to.

Ill try disabling addons its not really a big deal cause I know how to fix it I just thought it was odd

the youtube one is more annoying TBH

without addons the zoom level is the same, i use a script to hid the sidebar and make the forums readable (dark)

If you want to change the default zoom level for websites as people on screens with high resolutions tend to get tiny text when viewing websites and each time need to press the CTRL + sign to zoom in. But this gets tiresome after a while and if you want to set your default zoom level as something more zoomed in, here is how:

1) Open Firefox or Pale Moon

2) In the address bar, type: about:config

3) copy/paste this text into the search bar in the about:config page: layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

4) The default value is 1.0, change it to something like 1.3 for a start then restart your browser and see how you like the size. If you still want a more zoomed in view, set it to 1.4. Keep experimenting until you get the perfect zoom level that you want

if you read my post I actually want to to the opposite of what you posted. the default value of 1.0 is zoomed in too much and it only is an issue on forums for whatever reason. websites look fine and I would not want them any smaller. forums on the other hand I do

well then put a negative value instead of a positive one.

what's weird is, on my HD 1920x1080 screen text is a bit too small for my liking so I put those numbers as an example

I just installed the latest Pale Moon!

And uninstalled it within10 minutes.

I mean, it's not bad really. I got all my Firefox prefs, bookmarks, and ad-ons over in less than 30 seconds.

OK, what does that give me? um, Firefox! Wait, I already have that. Uses the same amount of RAM, pulled up a dozen pages and it was the same to a couple seconds slower.

Yeah, why do I want this? If you like it, glad you do. No reason to hate it, but I don't know what would make me want to "switch." Maybe I would have to hate Firefox in the first place? But that would probably make me a Chrome guy.

one reason, the interface, out of the box, of our old beloved Firefox. Not a Chromefox that needs a lot of tweaking to make it even usable.

Indeed, I'm not a fan of the new Australis interface at all. I'm not sure about speed, it seems similar to me, but as far as interface clutter goes to me Palemoon is far more pleasant to use.

Kudos to the developers for providing an interface that remains true to the likings of old-school Firefox users.

My point exactly, speedwise, really, most browsers are fast enough (for me at least). But Kudos to Mr. Moonchild (the developer) for sticking to the old design and he has no plans for adopting Australis.

I can't wait till the next Firefox ESR is out that's when Pale Moon will get a major revamp to its engine and once again, beat Firefox.

Back then when we were on Firefox v18, Pale Moon blew it out of the water in terms of speed. The reason now Firefox 30+ is similar in speed if not a bit faster at some instances, is because it has had major revamps while Pale Moon cannot keep up since it is based on Firefox ESR which is @ v24.5 I believe.

Either way, I tried going back to Firefox many times, within 24 hours, I face a quirk, either the browser crashed if I open 20+ tabs or so, or simply get sick of the interface, especially that fugly new bookmarks button which looks like it is a button split into two. Can't stand it sorry, Pale Moon FTW

Lol. That Application Menu on the right looks almost exactly like the one in ChromeOS. My guess is that Firefox is going to keep merging into Chrome until it actually IS Chrome (dropping the Firefox name) so Google can dominate the world with even more tracking/ads. I wonder which version they will switch to the Blink engine...

Pale Moon FTW

The new settings menu is easy to customize so it won't look so cluttered. The curved tab NOT tabs is only present in the tab you are on. The rest are block style like the older versions of FF. Here's a screen cap of my setup. It's really not that bad IMO.
