What's wrong with Paleo? Cutting out dairy, grains(maybe not as much) and refined sugars\carbs seems to be pretty universal in most other diets.

OP, assuming you're a real person just use Google - there's tons of info out there.

.

no need to cut those things out unless you have an allergy. I eat dairy and grains, some refined sugars and I have a FFMI of 27.

Fixed that for you.

I kid

Come on now... I only used a few cycles

in all seriousness, any diet that is too limiting isn't going to be something you can live with day in and day out. making conscious food choices and being aware of your total caloric intake is what is really important.

paleo cuts out:
Legumes including peanuts, black beans, green beans, peas
potatoes including sweet potatoes.. even squash
salt
grains - including oatmeal
dairy - milk/yogurt/cheese

I almost eat everything on that list daily, and definitely eat everything on that list weekly.

just today I ate:
peanut butter
salt on my broccoli
cream in my coffee
yogurt
artificial sweeteners
and if the boss cooks them up, I will have some sweet potatoes later tonight.

becoming healthy isn't about cutting out things on that type of scale. it's about being in control of what you eat - most importantly in control of how much you eat.

I think you're mistaken, black beans, sweet potatoes and squash are pretty common in lots of paleo dishes. I agree people that go ape shit over it are retarded. The general idea is good imo

http://ultimatepaleoguide.com/potatoes-paleo/ - sweet potatoes are apparently ok

the same site on legumes
Will they kill you? Probably not. They’re certainly better for you than grains but if you want to adhere to a strict paleo regimen, you’ll want to eliminate legumes from your diet.

One of the things that I like about paleo that also makes it a bit of a pain in the ass is there's a lot of variability in what someone means when they say they're eating a paleo diet. I use it as more of a general guideline, it helps me keep my weight in check or at least doesn't allow me to get too much fat built up but I could also lose a few pounds

Korean short ribs and Kim-chi or Saur Kraut. There was a study a while back that suggests that sour fermented foods help to make healthy Bacteria in your gut. Cut tofu up in flat squares and brown it and make a dipping sauce out of soy sauce and sesame oil. Tastes quite well. Sesame is a seasoning that makes meat taste savory and kind of sweet. It is often used in marinades in oriental cooking.

Add some fish to your diet. Red Lobster.

Soy isn't something I would eat regularly, especially if you like your 'masculine qualities"

That's why I think paleo is a joke. The "founder" says lean meats, tons of other people say he's full of shit and that you have to eat fatty cuts and organ meats. Some say rice is ok, some say no, and some say only if it's white rice. Potatoes are ok...oh wait, no they're not. Tomatoes? Out...wait, no, those are ok. Sweet potatoes are out...wait, no, Loren says they're ok...they're ok! Eat tons of bacon! No, bacon is processed crap...not paleo.

What is paleo? It seems to be what ever you want it to be as long as you don't eat wheat or dairy.

Then there's the whole primal crap that says Paleo almost got it right, but dairy is ok.

This is the solid, common sense advice. If there are things that aren't paleo that you enjoy eating... eat them! Just be mindful of how much you are eating so that you can still maintain a caloric deficit.

There are some great paleo recipes that you can fit into an average diet though. Look up Caveman Keto and Mark's Daily Apple.

I made this recipe yesterday.

What about Edamame? Does that count as soy?

did a quick google, and yes, I would say it counts and I would personally avoid
Edamame is a form of soybean, which contains substances that are chemically similar to the female hormone, estrogen.

Sorry for the threadjack, but how much soy would you say is too much?

I haven't done much reading, but the Japanese seem to do fine (great life expectancy) and they eat on average 2-3 servings of soy per day, from a quick google search. Broccoli also has a ton of phytoestrogens, so would you recommend cutting it out too? Are phytoestrogens the same as female hormones, or do they only resemble them? Do they have the same activity in the body? How much of it that is consumed is bioavailable? I'm skeptical about this bit of advice that's been going around the internet; Any links to studies would be appreciated.

im no expert, just chose to stay away from soy for the reasons I posted here.

I'll just point out that Asians aren't really known for their muscularity/size so if life expectancy is your main goal, do your own research. I personally wouldn't eat 2-3 servings of soy a day. you sound like you are actively trying to eat it at those quantities.

I know my chiro advises to stay away from soy as well, even for women -> for more general health reasons. I'll ask him next time Im in why specifically.

I'm not much of a cook, but my girlfriend has been tearing through some Paleo recipe books the past few weeks. I'd say the one with the best meals so far is "Well Fed". The one with the easiest to follow recipes is probably "Nom Nom Paleo". Enjoy.

I have Well Fed 2 (thanks to my ATOT Secret Santa!), it's magnificent. Everything I've tried has been really good...sure beats guessing at my own recipes

Go to Amazon. Download their Kindle reader for PC, Android, etc (whatever you're going to read the e-books on).

Now go to their cookbook e-book section. Do a search for "paleo". Once you have the results, change the order to "Price - lowest to highest". Guaranteed, you will find some free paleo cookbooks, usually at least a page worth. Sometimes 5 or 6 pages worth.
