Just wondering if anyone has seen this card yet? It isnt all that more expensive then the 1Gb model. ($10 difference) Would the 2Gb of vRAM make a big impact on multi display, 3D, and higher resolution (2560x1600)? Or make a big enough impact to warrant the $10 increase in price I guess. Your thoughts?

If this has been posted already sorry I couldn't find it.

I don't know if it will be big but I am sure that it will be better.

Still being able to run 2 monitors on this card would be better then on a 1Gb version.

? This would make no difference at all, as you cannot game with more than 1 monitor with a single card using nvidia. A 64MB card would perform the same

There would be some benefit if you bought two of these for surround, also at 2560x1600 on a 30" screen, but the 560 is too weak for modern games at the resolution anyways, so again, you'd need to buy two.

AMD performs better at high resolutions compared to NV, so if you wanted to do 3-monitor gaming or run a 30" monitor, two 2GB 6950s would perform better.

Some turn based games I play aren't too bad on two displays, and I actually have an HD movie playing while I game now-a-days.

Still need 2 cards for surround, just like you need 2 580's for surround so both the 2Gb 560 and 3Gb 580 are of no extra value unless you have 2 IMO.

That's not necessarily true, because some games are developed for dual monitor support like Supreme Commander.

if it's only something minor like $10, you're kind of obligated to get it. it's like a condom. better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!

:awe:

anyways, i see that 1gb vs 2gb may make a difference in certain games when you're @ 2560 x 1600. so now my question would be, would you get a 2gb gtx 560 or 2gb 6950? or would an o/ced (like the gigabyte/asus 1000mhz) gtx 560 negate all that?

$10 more for 2 gb = huge resale value (the sucker effect)

But the card is selling at 280 right now so I don't know where the "just $10 more" thing is coming from...

i wouldn't expect increased framerates from 2gb over 1gb.

sli might be better.

but an extra ten bucks can't hurt either.

I get the feeling very few people on this forum has actually looked at video card memory usage. Download Rivatuner or EVGA Precision and see if your games ever even hit 1GB. I've never seen usage even hit 700mb with 1920x1200.

BUT I bought a 1gb 8800GT back when the norm was 512mb, and since a lot of games do now go over 512mb, I guess I do see a "future proofing" benefit from my VRAM greediness.

Weeee.Ok,so Palit is 20 bucks above all the other 560's even the likes of evga and asus, then another 10 above that for a 2gb version.Frustrating, because i think this card in sli fits my criteria.Anyone care to add why,or is it newegg playing with prices?I can't tell because i don't see 2gb anywhere else.

There's another thread about this exact topic that was discussed recently. Bottom line was that very few games used over 1GB at 1080p, although with lots of AA and some texture mods, a few did. For 95% of the games out there, 1GB of vram is sufficient. 2560x1600 and above is where the extra memory is necessary.

I am having this dilemma as well.
For approximately the same price, would it be better to get Palit 2GB now or wait for the Gigabyte Super OverClocked 560, which seems to take forever to get delivered.
