yeah I was looking at that but the gtx460 is a better deal IMO. if I had a slower card then I would jump on one of these 460 deals. its just not a big enough jump from my 260 though.

You have greater will power than I. I'd look at it as I could still sell the gtx260 for $60 or so cutting the cost of the upgrade in half, and we all know a gtx460 at 750mhz or higher will significantly outperform even an overclocked gtx260.

I'm looking around at some benchmarks and the HD6850 seems to have an upper hand on the GTX460 specially when things get hot. The 6850 manages to stay 10+ FPS above the 460 playing crysis.

It actually falls behind the HD6850 at certain games that are NOT nvidia payed (ahem...) and 3Dmark Vantage, but it seems that many people can get the 6850 it to HD6870 levels with a decent OC, not to mention lower wattage consumption...

Hehe.. few Nvidia games are so skewed its not even funny.

not to mention lower wattage consumption...

I don't think that's a big deal.. 460's are pretty efficient chips, OC'ing any card will increase consumption exponentially. Its not a deal breaker IMO.

My point is, $130 AR.. for that card is one heck of a deal.

Great deal. Will be in the market for a card around GTX460/HD6850 performance very soon. Hope I can get something like that

460 needs to be OCed to take the 6850, though they are always pretty close. It's still a great card, however, and my 460 runs cooler and quieter than my Gigabyte 6850 (with which I'm not all that impressed, frankly. Fans default to 75%? C'mon now).

That's gigabyte's fault, you can always go into ATI Overdrive and change it. 6850 is supposed to draw 20-30w less than the GTX460 @ stock clocks.

tax? I dont pay tax at newegg

If a company has a physical location in the state they're generally required to collect sales tax on in state sales. Newegg's warehouses are in CA and NJ. (I'm in NJ :'() Technically you are required to pay PA the income tax by mailing the state a check, but the chances of getting caught for not doing it are so slim that nobody does.

Wait is this a 460 SE?

I was looking at it and was gonna run out and pick it up at Microcenter after work (damn good price) when I saw the 460 768 Palit listed for $165:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0341976

Which raised my eyebrow. Something up with these cards? Why the lower base price from the start?

EDIT: It does list the proper cores. Just weird that the 768 would have a higher base price. Oh wells, unless you guys say this maker (Never owned palit) is garbage - will be picking it up after work.

That is a horrible benchmark, all those GTX460s are OC'd at least 160+ MHz over stock clock...

Hell, if i OCed an HD6850 to 900MHz, i'm sure it'd eat the GTX460 for breakfast.
no they are not. either way its just a benchmark and not a game. the 6950 is faster than a stock 460 for sure but not by very much. if you oc both the 6850 and gt460 then the gtx460 is going to be the faster card.

SE is a cut down gpu that has 288sp/48tmu instead of 336sp/56tmu but still retains 256bit bus and 32rops. the 768mb version is usually slightly faster in most cases.

$165 for a 768mb is not a very good deal. there have been 768mb models as low as 115 bucks. the Palit 1gb model for $129 in this thread is not an SE as for as I know.
