They may be out. However, I would go in and start to place the order and not say anything about a price match. Start the process BUT DON'T COMPLETE IT, get an order number, and tell them to place it on hold. Then call back in a few minutes and finish the order with the price match.

The last email I received says this:

Try a different customer service rep. The word must not be out to all the reps cause I just ordered another one, after I that they were not price matching any more. Good Luck. As of now, SF area (94501-Alameda) still had one more to be ordered. Good luck

Maybe it's me, but I think Staples has their people reviewing this (and other) sites on a regular basis. Everytime a hot deal comes up, Staples rips it out of their system.

Get this, I called them to order. Had a really nice CSR, she placed my order and tried selling me almost every other good for the Palm. I just stated that after she confirmed it was in stock that I wanted to pricematch it. I gave her the details. After several minutes she came back and said that "our cost is $319, so we can't pricematch it to that low ($239) a price". Hey, she was nice, I wasn't going to push it, but I thought it was sh!t of Staples.

In any event... there are two other places that list this SAME item according to PriceGrabber.com -- TECHSUMER.COM and ACCESSMICRO.COM. These both look like owned/subsidary of McGLEN.COM based on their pricing a listing. But what the heck, I ordered one anyway from AccessMicro

Oh well. I ordered one anyway from McGlen. We'll see what happens.
I would have liked to used the $40 coupon but after adding in the
shipping cost and tax, I'm not going to quibble over $10 or $15 for

Interesting development on the "cost" argument. I have never had that happen with Staples. It may be a new wrinkle in our deals. That disclaimer is not on their website, though.

Incidentally I think the palmIIIc is garbage. PalmVx is a much better choice. I am very lucky to have come to own both a palm v and a palmIIIc for nothing. PalmIIIc is bigger, heavier, its really hard to read the screen in daylight, the screen is more reflective so it is more prone to glare, and screen refreshes are slow. This is a very good price though, I say fleabay it and get a palmVx.

You know, I've never tried to pricematch anything but the fact that you have to twist their arm to get them to honor their own policy, and the fact that one of you got "its out of stock" only AFTER you mention pricematching makes me angry. Doesnt this bother anyone else? It's like customer harassement or something.

Yeah sometimes I got that kind of attitude also from the CSR. That's why I always order first the item to see whether it's in stock or not. Then after everything clear I said I want to do a pricematch. They always honor that but then the next hour/day they will just cancelled it without telling you anything .. Well it's start to bothering me .. I got this kind of cancellation twice. The first one is about 50x "free" CD-rom, they just cancelled my order.

Look up as a search on yahoo.com "Staples coupon" and you should see sites to pick them up. do not tell staples you got coupon from internet, they will not allow it, tell them from catalog.

Huh, that's interesting. I called last night and Staples had none in stock. I called today and they had them in stock but wouldn't let me pricematch on McGlen.com.

I finally went to a Staples B&M with ad in hand. They pricematched but, wouldn't you know it, I get the one store in NH where the policy says: "We add in their next day shipping charge". McGlen's shipping charge is $20 for next day. I was bummed since I went to New Hampshire to avoid sales tax. I could have saved myself the trouble and a few bucks by going to a Staples in Massachusetts that had it.
Every other Staples store I called said they only add whatever shipping is on the printed web site ad I had....BUT they had none in stock!

Still, a pretty damn good deal. $190 off would have been nice but I'm not going to complain about $150 off.

I ordered one from McGlen that I doubt I'll get, but Friday morning I ordered one from Staples over the phone. I called Thursday night and was told they were out of stock, but it would still let me add it to my basket, which previous experience tells me means it is in stock in my area. The phone rep said the system only updates inventory at midnight (again not in my experience ordering online from Staples), so Friday morning I tried again and the web site would still let me put one in my basket, so I called again and explained this to the new phone rep. She said she'd try to place the order for me then price match, and it went through. Today I went in to my local Staples and they let me buy one with a price match as well.
