Wow this is a great price I have yet to see this PDA in person, has anyone seen one or owns one? How is the color quality for a PDA?

I personally have an iPaq which provides 240x320 resolution and 12-bit color. The Palm IIIc only provides 160x160 resolution and an 8-bit (256 color) display. Its basically a really pretty Palm that can show slightly pixelated pictures. =)

But it's still a HOT deal considering it retailed at $400 not so long ago.

www4ASearchcom - I already thought of that but remember the regular retail price is $329.99 less $70 in instand and mail in rebates.

However if you visit the CompUSA page you'll see a price of $259.99 in bold. Assuming you get a total ditz of a Staples CSR they may just notice the price in bold without the * comment and you'll get a very sweet deal!

Ross - 259.99 is the actual price on item when you ad it to your cart and try to checkout so i am asuming that these are not Mail in Rebates (i know it says it is but add it to cart and see for yourself) Or am i missing somthing?

yeah I tried adding it in the basket and it showed the price of $259.99 with shipping to my address for something like $8.............so I would say that Staples will pricematch with $259.99

btw........will Staples add compusa's 2nd day shipping rate to the price?

sygyzy - Yup, it's the PDA made by Compaq based on Microsofts new PocketPC OS. This thing was and still is in very high demand. I was one of the few who was able to get it at *gasp* retail. I actually bought two, one for myself and one to sell on egay to help cover the cost of the one I bought for myself. Got $800 dollars for it. =)

The iPaq is great cuz it has a reflective color screen that can be seen in DIRECT sunlight, unlike the Palm IIIc... it also plays MP3's, can playback MPEG videos, built in Word and Excel... the list just goes on for it's capabilities, also, I can connect it to my cellie and have FULL internet access (ie. I can even post to these forums) with it's built in Internet Explorer. QUITE the cool device.

www4ASearchcom - You're right, hmmn I should have tried adding it to my cart. I was just going off of what the * comments said. If this was twice as fast (like the new Handspring Visor Platinum) with more colors then I'd consider getting it.

I have never tried pricematching at Staples.....seen many post regarding Staples pricematching that they will add 2nd day shipping if the vendor they are pricematching with doesn't offer free shipping.

So....please clear me up on this as I'm getting ready to order once the hot line opens.

Siamskunk - Dude/Dudette don't worry I'm sure that Staples has plenty, but just in case here's two things you should do:
1) Check your local Staples stock by adding the Palm IIIc into your cart, do you get an out of stock message?
2) Check your local CompUSA stock by adding the Palm IIIc into your cart, do you get an out of stock message?

Remember in order for Staples to price match a competitor, the product has to be in stock.

No stock in my area (staples website) east coast...
are they still in BM locations .
this would be a great deal at $219.00 , but $259+tax is to close to the fleabay prices ($290 with 155 at least listed)no room for profit.
If you want one for your own use, its a good deal though!

I have a palm3c and a palmV that has been upgraded to 8megabytes of memory.
In my opinion the palm3c is a piece of junk.
Remember its only 256 colors.
The screen is almost impossible to read in daylight, even at full brightness
Its bigger than the palm3 is, and heavier.

If the palm m100 had 8megs of memory i would say that is a better pda.

I got a CSR who sounded pretty grumpy, but I guess I can't blame him, I would be grumpy working sunday morning too. Had to go on hold three times as well - the final time while he called to verify compusa had stock as he was &quot;having trouble with the web page&quot;..
He said he didn't know if I could bear the wait.. lol, I told him I'd hold. Final price, 249.96. Incidentally, he said someone had called 10 minutes before me to try this price match, but couldn't, since CompUSA was out of stock in thier area. (I'm in Cambridge MA)
