I called.. they check.. 2 in stock.. using SKU 983459 . i said are you sure... they say yes.. i say hold both of them for me.... 50 mile trip.... get there.. and they messed up.. they went by what was in the computer.. not actuallt looking....but they did give me the M100 for $99..used the 15 off 50 coupon.. not too bad..

Just got the last one in the entire DC metro area. My Office Depot had two but no of the 10 other stores I called had any (except for one store which already had it on hold for someone else). Asked them to hold them both. Got to the store 2 hours later. They only had one. Go figure. At least they let me use the 15 off 50 coupon to get the one for $89 w/tax.

This is my deal of the month. Even better than the 2 play station 2's I got from amazon two weeks ago!

Just finished attempting to ransack the OD's here in Ohio. After finding an extremely helpful employee, he took me over to the computer to search for Palm VII's (sku# 983459).

Found two at another store too far away to go to during the work day. To make a long story short, the price came up at $265 at the register.

Go figure.

Here's the story with the price coming up at $269.89:

Went to an OD here that is closing, all they had was the display Palm VII and it rang up at $269.89. Apparently the liquidators own the product so their price rings up as something other than what's at the other ODs. Manager wouldn't budge on price.

well I just got one from od in San francisco(2300 16th street) and they had one left i believe(maybe taken by employees).
Now my dillema is I got two palm pilots in the trunk of my car:
Palm vii with 2mb ram for $99 from office depot
and
Palm IIIxe with 8mb ram for $159 -$50 rebate=$109 after rebate
I dont know which one to open and which one to return/sell.
VII is pretty much like IIIxe but with wireless modem and less ram for $10 less and its being discontinued.
I could sell it on fleabay for around $250 and make $150 profit which should more than pay for IIIxe but I wont get wireless..... what to do what to do.....
I couldnt find anything on upgrading VII to 8mb or whether or not I can upgrade the O.S to 3.5 What other advantages does VII have over IIIxe?

Yeah, I would auction off the Palm VII. If you want wireless go get an OmniSky which would give flexible TCP/IP access (web, telnet, ssh, etc) without a little bit more cost

Actually thanks to Anantech I also have the Timeport vs 6100 dilemma too.

I am leaning twords keeping the VII. Palm has a new 44.95 unlimited plan.

Rats, well I just called the local ones and they told me one had it, I called them and they checked, a long time on hold, then surprise someone *just bought it*, meaning the employees probably snagged it.
If anyone out there has a extra or can pick one up and isn't interested in price gouging me for it I'd really appreciate it cause I've been looking for one of these for awhile.

I managed to find a Palm VII HOWEVER the box is mysteriously missing EVERYTHING except the palm pilot itself! The unit is untouched and unopened w/ plastic over the screen and the stylus but that's all that is in the box!

I can pick up a cradle at buy.com for $24, but would anyone care to zip up or burn me a copy of the software? Or is it downloadable from Palms site?

I found a display model thats it. they said they don't have all of the stuff. All they had was unit and caddy it sits in to connect to desktop. I got them down to $80.00. I called palm they said they would sell me software and manual for about $40.00 not a good deal for me. :disgust: Oh well

The software is downloadable from palm.com, as is the hotsync software. In fact they just updated the palm desktop to v4.0
