No I used my cpu to help
I am responding to the people bitching
about the db level for fans that are in fact moving more air

~40 CFM total is plenty for most case cooling needs, and that includes the air being moved by the fans in the PSU. Not everyone is an overclocker in the middle of Death Valley.

Right now I'm using thermistor controlled Papst fans in my rig, 3 of them. They move less than 18 CFM each under cool conditions, and they push a max of 26 CFM as the temp approaches 50C (which of course never happens.)

Whoo....even hotter.

According to that site those fans are 32dB which is not at silent as the L1A's.

Beggars can't be choosers.

I was never "begging" about these fans, just stating the facts. I already own several of the L1A's and I am very happy with them, and was not looking into buying anymore of them.

Got one of them L1A's cooling my 1800xp @ 2400 and the loudest thing in my PC is my video card fan

I am not sure which adapters you are looking at, but these are the ones I was talking about. No need to solder any wires. Just plug the 3 pin plug from the fan into the connector and plug the other end into an extra molex from the PSU. Great price at only $0.49.

Pay attention!! Most of the fans people are pointing to here have BARE LEADS!! BARE LEADS means no three pin connector at the end..These are the connector kit I am refering to.kdc

I thought that Strych9 confirmed that these have 2-pin connectors.

As already mentioned, these fans have 2-pin connectors (or at least they did last time I bought them). They fit nicely on the motherboard fan connectors....just cut off the little feet.

Hopefully, they will also fit nicely in a Vantec 520 "Stealth", which takes 2-pin connectors.

Craftsman, for the 15 fans you bought several weeks ago, did they say made in Japan or made in China?

The reason I'm asking is because I noticed that the picture of the L1A shown at Quickar (link) says "Made in Japan" while the picture at AllElectronics (link) says "Made in China". For $0.50 difference, I would rather get a Japanese made fan.

Thanks in advance.

RE:"They are in Lake Park, Fl"

Right around the corner. I'll check it out.

EDIT: LOL, I've known the guy for years. He's legit. Marlon Jones.

Nope. Lake park is just north of West Palm Beach. You are probably thinking of Lake CIty, which is on I-10 between Jacksonville and Tallahassee.

All of the 15 that I order were made in Japan (at least according to the label on the fan).

Just to let you know these fans probably have 2 pin connectors ( as stated by Strych9) . Please read this thread THROUGHLY before you start confusing people saying that these fans have " BARE LEADS, BARE LEADS!!"

So the product i linked to at SVC will work with the 2 pin connector. Unless you want to make it hard on yourself and cut the 2 pin connector and connect it to the item you linked you to at kdcomputers.

I'm pretty sure the allelectronics fans have bare wire, because they say they have pigtail leads, which is supposed to mean no connector. As soon as I recieve mine, I'll let you all know how they are (they sometimes ship REALLY slow though )

I've been eyeing these $2.50 NMB fans too when I visit SVC's website. But the airflow is 18cfm vs. Panaflo's 24cfm. That's quite a significant difference.

.....had me worried there re location and potential memory loss
I've been to Lake City and Tallahassee quite a bit and didn't remember any Lake Park

Is there any kind of recommended formula for cfm air flow related to CPUs?

The new rig I am building came with 3 80mm fans and I likely will end up with a 2500XP
ps I got it on sale and in blue and I'm in love again

Yeah, it's too bad he didn't read his PMs this morning before he got flamed by the locals:

MPJA is in Lake Park, off the Northlake I-95 exit and on Old Dixie, not in Lake City. You may want to amend your post before somebody else flames you.

How are your temps since you replaced the fans? Do you OC? Which HS you using?

Thanks

Temps are the same O/C 2.4 to 2.8. I have a large case and have 3 fans 2 in back and one up front. I seriousely havent seen any difference in performance with the decreased airflow. This case has openings for 120mm fans, and it was noisy as heck with them in. Switched to quiet vs airflow and dont have any better results on O/C potential. Temps are the same just less noise.

1 or 2 degrees difference in temp is a mute point for a stable O/C IMHO if your chip will take it then these fans will pull out the heat

BTW- I have a stock hsf

Nice one. Alternatively, 1 or 2 degrees is a moot point, and 1 or 2 dB is a mute point. At least when measuring loudness at the level of 2 leaves falling rather than 1, about 3dB.

kind of a noob question... but do you use a 3 to 4-pin adapter to power all three fans? And does an adapter make a difference... like the power supplied directly from the PSU vs. indirectly from the 3-pin connection on the MOBO.
