from the site:
"2.4 GHz/900 MHz Twin Band Transmission Design"

<< Note however, this phone is not 2.4Ghz on both directions! It is 900mhz from phone to base and 2.4 the other way. >>

see that's what i was afraid of, I was wondering why these things sell for dirt cheap everywhere and have two antenna when other 2.4ghz are much more expensive and only have one antenna.

so I guess if it's 900mhz from the phone to the base then it's 2.4ghz BS is just that, BS, just put their to say "look it's a 2.4!" for those that don't read the fine print.

$80 for a 900mhz phone isn't a hot deal.

I have two of these phones. One with Caller ID (KX-TG2550S) and one without (KX-TG2500S). They are heavier than most phones, but you get used to it fast.

luv2chill: You can pull off redial with two buttons (like most phones). Hit the directory button (Redial should be the first one) and then hit talk. You will not see the number until it begins dialing though. The other way, you can see the number that you last dialed before you dial it.

I read somewhere that 802.11B could detect collisions and hops frequencys, so devices like phones and microwaves will not cause interference.

If this is a 900Mhz phone, it is, by far the best 900Mhz phone on the face of the earth. I have this exact phone and I also have a Sony 900Mhz Digital Spread Spectrum phone. The Sony WILL NOT function more than 75-100 feet outside my home. The Panasonic will work great up to ~1000 feet. I have made calls at this distance with no problems.

This site seem suspicious. First NBCi can't find this reseller.

NBCi search result for phone.

Second the trademark quote all the way down in the screen mention it's in year 1999 not in 2000.

For those who need more info about this phone.

Panasonic phone info.

Anyway it's worth of taking risk. Wish me luck, I am going to order it.

I just took the plunge on this one. These phones are selling for upwards of 150 and I need a new one. I should say thanks to all you guys. You have helped me find great deals on everything I need to build a new system. My C.C. company is probably wondering what is going on with all of these orders recently. I just can't wait for all of the packages to start arriving.

I was looking at getting a new 2.4 GHz phone but I can't even find one with a mute button. I'm amazed that they would have this simple design flaw.

Guys I have one of these and I dont know where people are getting their info saying these are 900mhz phones. That's BS. Panasonic cordless phones rock, I have a 900mhz Panasonic and this 2.4GHZ, believe me the 2.4ghz has about 3 times the range and is much clearer...it's not a 900mhz phone!

Superunknown: It's true that the Panasonic 2.4 Ghz phones use both 900 Mhz for sending and 2.4 Ghz for receiving. I bought on of these phones a while back and it was clearly stated in the manual. Here's a snippet from Panasonic's website with the propoganda on why this is a swell way to do it:

Twin-Band Transmission
Twin-band transmission extends the calling range of our 2.4 GHz GigaRange® Extreme SST (spread spectrum technology) cordless phones. Conventional phones transmit and receive signals within the same band (or frequency) which can result in interference between the signals. To combat this, our 2.4 GHz GigaRange® Extreme SST cordless phones operate on two different bands: 2.4 GHz on the base, and 900 MHz on the handset. This minimizes interference between signals, enhances clarity and boosts range. You'll hear the difference in conversations with excellent sound quality and virtually no echo. Our unique proprietary circuitry design also helps these phones resist interference from other devices that share similar bands, such as microwave ovens.

<end snippet>

Btw, I wasn't happy with the phone I had (it turned out to be defective) and I returned it for a Siemens Gigaset with which I am extremely pleased! It's very cool to be able to add more phones to the system without actually attaching them to a phone line. They act as intercoms as well. Also the Siemens phones use AA batteries - it might sound lame but when you slap in some 1400 mah batteries you can talk for 8 hours or more on the darn thing without a recharge! I think their 2415 model currently sells for $150 at officemax.

I would reccomend you to stay away from yahoo store, that warehouse located in Boropark, Brooklyn, NY. Their refurbished products are really poor quality and I don't think they are refurbished by manufactor either, I think they own little factory themselves.

Staples do not carry this particular model.
This is refurbished unit.
This particular vendor is not on their list for PM (I've tried

A quick FYI. It does interfere with the Orinoco (Lucent) RG1000 802.11b 11mbps wireless lan system, on both Orinoco access cards and Aironet (Cisco). So if you're planning to get a wireless home networking system, do not get this phone. The Toshiba SG1000 2.4Ghz cordless phone works fine though.
