Not butt in to this battle...but...

I own a DLP, a plasma and an LCD...the plasma has my favorite picture in general. Some things look better on the DLP and LCD, but most look better on the plasma in my eyes. The plasma TV reminds me of a CRT, guess I'm old school, but I still like a CRT picture even if it's not high def.

I'm a 3d geek Testking. I use a 120hz asus and nvidia 3d vision on my desktop pc and 3d looks better on my plasma. Less ghosting/crosstalk by far, brightness is way more than I'll ever need, and depth seems better. Your eyes get use to the picture and it looks more natural. When I watch my LCD in my bedroom it's just fake looking.

If you're looking to game on a tv you're doing it wrong. They only allow 60fps and in 3d 30fps each eye. 120Hz monitors are the only choice for gaming.

I use an IZ3D monitor with passive polarized glasses for my desktop. The old glasses and algorithm had severe ghosting issues but the new glasses/algorithm is virtually ghost-free, less than Nvidia's solution which are prone to bad ghosting on the top/bottom of the screen.

I'm also aware of the HDMI 720p/60hz and 1080p/24hz limitation in 3D, however I view that as a compromise for big screen 3D gaming comfort on a nice, soft couch with a wireless keyboard/mouse/gamepad. These days I just don't want to spend long gaming sessions sitting upright in the home office. The Samsung's 240hz motion engine will also help smooth out the 1080p/24hz juddering in 3D (it already helps with Xbox games typically running at 22-30 fps suddenly seem as if they're 100fps). This combined with LED's typically bright output is a favorable combination for 3D gaming on the couch.

I desired a plasma this time around but the Samsung LED gave me everything I wanted at the budget I set.

I agree, although LCD has come along way to the point where in some situations I would consider it over plasma, such as in a room where there would be light reflecting off the TV.

I also have a DLP, LCD, and a Panasonic GT50. They all have minimal amateur setup by me. The GT50 has the best and most natural picture, even though the LCD is brighter.

When I bought the Plasma I went shopping thinking I had to have an LCD/LED and plasma was dead. After some research, lots of questions and comparisons I was sold on the GT50.

And a price of $799 at Fry's closed the deal!

Figured I'd post cnet's review of the st30. They say picture quality is excellent basically a wash with the gt30, best value in plasma TV's currently, and deep black levels. Pretty good for a low end tv huh Testking?

You still hurt by the fact I passed on the ST30 in favor of an LED based on MY findings?

I've seen the ST30 in action, played around with it, don't care for it. You still haven't answered my question: Have you seen Samsung's latest line of LED TV's IN PERSON yet? If not, then with all due respect, STFU

BTW, this is from that very same review:

"The bad: The chunky ST30 seems dated by today's flat-panel TV design standards. Picture quality flaws include limited brightness--a liability especially in bright rooms--and less-saturated color in its most accurate picture mode. The ST30 has fewer picture controls than the competition, doesn't include 3D glasses, and uses significantly more power than LCD TVs.

Like I said (repeatedly) before, I chose the Samsung LED for its brighter, crisper, more vibrant picture quality.....ESPECIALLY in 3D. I also don't have any of the concerns of burn-in or after-images that plagues Plasma's when connected to a PC for extended periods of time. And, after spending a few days with the TV, I thoroughly enjoy the 240hz trumotion smoothing for games, especially in 3D mode. Games that typically run at 30fps suddenly seem like they're running at over 100fps (I know its just an illusion from interpolated frames, but the liquid smooth feeling is definitely a welcomed effect for every game I tried). Too bad your plasma doesn't have that feature...you'd have to be scrounging a hot deal for the high end VT30 for something remotely close.

Yeah you got a much better deal by buying a 46" edge lit for $1500 over a $1200 50".

I'm glad you're happy in cartoon color world where everyone on tv looks like they have been sprayed in a fake tanning booth for 48 hours a piece. I enjoy my panasonic plasma just fine in any amount of light. It's funny that cnet's top performing TV's for picture quality are plasma's. I guess you'd know better though right?

I AM ANGRY THAT YOU ENJOYED YOUR PURCHASE LET ME TELL YOU HOW YOU SHOULD THINK.

Seriously guy, you're pathetic.

Signed,

Plasma owner, but also a decent human being.
