Panasonic makes a good phone and 900 mhz operation will not interfere with your wireless network.

I can not vouch for the site, but can say that the phone series was dependable when it came out. Also to the refurbished question, if it is a factory refurb it should be good to go.

I think I paid over $60 for a phone like this 3 years ago. This line of phones is excellent. I'd pick one up if I needed one.

Thanks for the post. I've been lurking these forums for weeks for a deal like this. I love Panasonic and I've been looking for the dual keypad option. Total cost for me was $29.14 (19.99 + 7.50 + 1.65) ... Cali peeps have to pay tax. I think it's a great deal, cause most newer phones make you pay a premium for the dual keypad. In regards to it being refurbished, I'm only worried about the battery. If the battery hasn't been charged right, then you typically have to buy a new one. I've never really had problems otherwise with refurb'd equipment.

First of all, you should change the title to indicate "refurbished". I spoke to someone at the store, and it should be noted that this is not factory refurbished, it is refurbished by the store selling the item. The 30 day warranty is offered by the store, not by panasonic, and does not cover problems with the battery. They have no return policy, so if you have any problems, your only recourse is to exchange the phone under the warranty. I read some of the reviews on reseller ratings, where their 6 month average score is 3.74 (their lifetime rating is 5.46), and found that other customers had complained about the quality of their refurbished products. So buyer beware.

That said, I am still considering this phone. Can anyone vouch for the quality of this store's refurbished products?

I got my phone yesterday and have been playing around with it since. They did not ship it with any orginal packaging or anything. I got the phone (with the battery in it), base and power plug. After searching online, I found the User Manual on Panasonic's website (Panasonic Manuals). You'll need to do a search on the model number (kxtc1713). Apparently, the orignal packaging should have included the following items:
-Wall mount adapter
-Belt clip
-Telephone cord
-User Manual

Obviously, these items were all missing. At least for me, I don't care at all ... I've always chucked these items on all my other phones. The phone looks pretty new, with a couple of scruff marks here and there. I tried using all the features and tested to make sure everything was working. Even the battery seems fine. I am definitely happy with this purchase. Of course, only time will tell whether this refurb was worth the money, but I find this is the case no matter what I buy (even brand new items). If you've owned Panasonic in the past, this phone will definitely make you happy (esp. for under $30).

I got mine! I didn't have high expectations of a reseller refurbished item and they weren't exceeded :disgust: If were buying or selling this item on Ebay, it would have a description of "heavily used". The numbers are worn off the buttons, lots of wear and tear marks, and most dissapointing, it is filthy dirty. I would expect reconditioning to include a function test and light cleaning and some form of grading where items which have been used more than 50% of their expected lifetime to be sold as "USED". I've had lots of positive experiences buying reconditioned and used items and this hasn't been one of them. I'd suggest you shop elsewhere.

(BTW - if somebody recieved a phone in good condition which they consider to be RECONDITIONED instead of just USED, please speak up - maybe I'm just the exception and this is a good deal for some)

I just went to the retail location to pick one of these up. There was a bunch of them left. They were all in about the same condition. I would say "used" would be a good term. They were all shrinkwraped with just a power supply. Mine actually had the belt clip. Other than that it looks ok. However, I have a feeling I'm going to have to fork out for a new battery. I'm not sure if the thing works yet. I've been looking for a 900mhz with speaker phone and the dual keypad. These thing are just too hard to find with the manus pushing the 5.8 or whatever.

YMMV

The phone I got was in nearly new condition, no wear or rub marks or anything like that. The phone could be louder, and I have heard clicking sounds once so far. The speakerphone feature is pretty cool. I need another phone similar to this, but louder, and with an answering machine built in for $27 shipped.

A little follow-up... I had another panasonic phone and swapped batteries. Phone seemed to work fine. However, I'm a little bummed that it doesn't have a mute button..

For those that are leary.. try overstock.com. The have a few 900mhz speaker phones. The one comparable to this one (caller id, speaker) is a Uniden exs-9660 for $47. Uniden EXS-9660 at overstock
