Panasonic DVD player problem

Hello guys
I bought a new DVD player..the Panasonic CP 72. I hooked up the player to a DVD player to a Sony Wega using Component cables. It runs interlaced fine but when i try to switch to progressive, it gives a flickering image. After going through the manual, i found out its an issue with the copy guard. Does anyone have any suggestions to make it work.
BTW. I took the DVD player to India. So I cant return it. Any suggestions to make it run in progressive mode would be extremely helpful.

Macrovision issue? If so, you can buy boxes that defeat it. Don't know if there are any that support component video though.

The strangest thing is that the manual mentions only the progressive output. The interlaced output through the component cables works perfectly.

uh - *obvious question* can the sony display 480p in the first place?

If the answer to GOSHARKS question is yes then it sounds to me like you have the same problem a bunch of people have with this player, which is a grounding problem with the component jacks in the player.

Yes..the WEGA is a digital one..with DRC capability..capable of outputting progressive signals.

Can someone please explain the grounding problem and how i go about fixing it.
