Had trouble ordering online, so called 800 number. Verified camera new in-box, asked if it came with a Panasonic/Matsushita warranty, was told warranty is by Vikingoffice.com (which, for me, is local). $15 off $150 coupon is good 'til 12/31 per WebSquare.com.

Thier order system is a mess because it shows 2 orders for me 1 is shipped and the other is backordered. It took a call into the warehouse to see what was going on. Clearly the shipped order is junk because it shows delivery as of today.

I can see not getting the item at all.

I just bought a Fuji S3100 via Staples online. Their retail is $299. They will do online price matches, so I had them price match with AMPHOTOWORLD. Their price right now is 175. Staples agreed to price match, although they did add on $44 shipping. (AMPHOTOWORLD was $19.99 standard) Thier reasoning was that since Staples ships overnight, Staples gets to charge the overnight shipping this company would. Very stupid, but plan on them telling you this. Right now at Staples when you order this camera, you also get an accessory pack and coupon book for free. When I tried to call in my order they told me that they could not price match until this deal was over, cause it makes them not the same offer. After wanting to kill them for a couple minutes, I chilled out... thought it over and tried one more time. I ended up placing the order online. Then using online interactive chat, to have them price match and reduce it. They did charge the $44 shipping, but I also had used a 30/150 coupon available out there so it still ended up ok. End result was

That's nice, but you're a bit late as I've already purchased this camera. From what I've read about this particular camera, it's so good, pixels don't really matter.

I ordered friday night and it arrived today, looks like a really nice camera, also got the free tv, 179.55 was the final price after tax, coupon, and 1.48 handling. I'm pretty pleased, especially if it takes pictures as good as everyone says.

Just make sure that you don't order the camera from AMPHOTOWORLD as they are the classic bait and switch artists. Check their reseller ratings here. They have a lifetime rating of .59! You would never get the camera for the price they advertise, and if you did it would be without all the accessories that are supposed to come with it.

I called up and got a tracking number, and according to the UPS website, delivery is Wed the item is 52Lbs. It was shipped last Monday too which tells me it's not the camera but something pretty big.

Taking bets on what it is? 52Lbs of paper-clips?

If I'm around on Wed and it's a big box I'll refuse it.

I finally rec'd the camera yesterday on 11/9. It arrived in fine condition and obviously was a great deal.

However, Viking service and support came up short. The original delivery date was supposed to be 11/4. When it didn't arrive, I called their customer support and would be a day late, delivery on the 5th. Before hanging up, I asked for the UPS tracking number...glad I did. Going out to the UPS site, they had a delivery date of 11/9 so at least I didn't waste the day waiting on it. BTW, when I made the purchase, the camera listing said "3 Day Delivery".

Anyway, I tried to call Viking support and got tired of listening to ads and waiting for the next rep so I fired off an email about the problem selecting the option that they should follow up with me. According to their policy, someone should have responded within 48 hours...haven't heard anything, yet.

All I can say is that the price was good and I rec'd a new camera. But Viking did not provide a positive Inet buying experience. The checkout procedure is awkward (when trying to redeem the discounts) and they don't deliver on time nor meet their SLA's. The only thing that would bring me back is if it was another screamin' deal like the FZ1.

the 12x optical zoom is an amazing feature. most cameras even in the 4-5MP category only comes with 3-4x optical zoom.
