I just picked up 10 packs in Wilson, NC. They had about 5 packs left on that shelf. I was in last week and they had several more packs. I think they probably have more scattered around at most stores. I found mine in the Fuji alkaline display rack bear the registers.

As a side note. I picked up a Rayovak 3 in 1 charger from Radio shack. They are clearing these out. Regular price is $9.99. They marked them down to $7.97, but mine rang up as $5.9x. It was $6.36 after tax, but I gave the lady a $10 and she gave me back the $6.36 in change. OOOOPS...price for the charger $3.64. I am going back to get the other one I think.

I was in Fry's and got the panisonic charger w/4 NiMH AA 1600mAh for $18.95- $5.00 rebate. Not too bad if you don't want the AAA's. Now I'll be headin' to Big Lots for a few packs of these. Thanks ironring!

I've been lurking for a while, finally decided to pony up.
Couldn't find any at my local Big Lots, but I had a volleyball tournament in Logansport, Indiana today.
As I was heading to Wal-Mart for propane, I saw this little town had a Big Lots.
They had Panasonic 1600mAh NiMH batteries!!!. They had dozens and dozens of packages.
I bought 4 packs. (In the spirit of the forum, I guess I should mention that they're for the 4MP Casio I got for $275. Oh yeah, did I mention I also got a 340MB microdrive to use in it for $75? Now that I've officially joined, I guess I'm obligated to report these things when I find them, huh?)

So..... Like with the RatShack 1994 remotes, try stores in small towns.

In the Midwest, Pic and Save is a grocery store. Bought 4 4-packs in the Big Lots in Eau Claire, WI. There are about 50 4-packs remaining on the rack.

excellent deal.... Big Lots always has some great deals on batteries (sometimes you need to check the expiration date on one time use batteries). I've been doing some research on rechargable nimh's lately. You guys should check this site out, it's got a lot of good info.

Also, shipping batteries via USPS right now isn't the best idea, better to go with the cheapest fedex or ups method you can, as since 9/11, USPS has to be more careful with chemical handling.

1600mA might be a little too low for digi cams. i got 4pack DIGITAL NiMH 1800mA for $9.98 @ OM. thats a better deal IMO

I get 25-30 hi-res pics off a set of 4 hot 1600mA AAs with flash ON about half the pics. Just keep an extra load of 4 in the camera bag and I am good for almost all 72 that will fit on my CF card. My $0.02.

My wife gets at least 200 pics with flash on using her Kodak DX3700 digicam.

I got two packs at the East Cactus Road store in Phoenix (next to SR51). On ftwlt I found a link to a coupon for $5 off $20 (from an LA Times ad) which if you buy enough stuff brings the price down even further. . The coupon expires today.
