Panasonic PV-GS15 MiniDV - $400 Shipped

I have been in the market for a new mini dv cam corder for our upcoming family addition. I have research quite a few and settled on the Panasonic-GS15. All the reviews look good and people have been very happy with it.

Being a good anandtecher I have been keeping an eye on the prices. Normally this is $500 at B&M, $430 at Newegg. Newegg has it on sale for $399 right now. THe other beautiful thing is for the weekend they knocked shipping from $12 to $0.99.

So it was:

$430 + $12 = $442

It is now:

$399 + $.99 = $399.99

Pretty damn hot deal in my opinion if you are in the market for a new camcorder.

The Panasonics seem to be the least expensive DVs available. I picked a model from Newegg about a year ago. When I bought it, I requested Newegg sell an extended warranty. They are just not ready to do that. Fortunately Panasonic will offer an extended warranty. Do plan to do the warranty thing.

Over the past two years, this is the second Panasonic DV. The transports on all these things are fragile. I have sent my unit back to Elgin Illinois, the repair center, twice. It has paid for itself.

I still love Newegg. I think the Panassonic is a good deal.
