If your Panasonic is an EDTV it only does 480p, not 720p. 720p is an HDTV resolution.

The panasonic in this thread is 768p. At the 42" size you cannot tell the difference between 768p and 1080p unless you are about a foot away.

I believe this set has a resolution of 1024x768 which isn't exactly 720p (1280x720).

This is the same set as the Black friday set which i did happen to purchase..

It does 1080i, and has a resolution of 1024 when hooked up to a pc via s-video from what ive been able to test.

Runs my xbox 360 at 1080i awesomely

this is i think in the top5 of rated plasma's in the 42'' sector.

Many plasmas don't use square pixels.

It's a 16:9 set, so if it were 1024x768, the pixels would have to be rectangular. A square at that resolution is 4:3.

That's 720p.

I was pretty sure the PM takes in to account the discounts currently being offered. So if Sears is offering 10% cash back, they would take that off their current price, then PM from there. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I've read they do it. So rather than $945 I think you are still at $1049.

This does not have PC input. By hooking it up via S-video, you definitely are not getting 1024 res (even if that's what your computer is set at). S-video is 480i, so your video card scaled it to 480i.

I got this one at BB black friday too, for native res being 1024x768, the picture is fan-freaking-tastic with a good HD source. Highly recommended. In fact, convinced a co-worker to purchase 2 for his house after seeing it in action.
