So I am trying the 24 hour trial, and it sounds exactly the same. I thought the sound quality was suppose to be much better?

I played the sample they have which is laughably stupid.

I see no reason to pay for this.

That and One isn't limited to 40 hours a month. I had it last year but didn't bother to renew. I never noticed a sound quality difference but I'm no audiophile. I did it mostly to get rid of the 40 hour limit and as cheap as a year was I didn't mind paying for a service I use so much.

Thats the thing, Pandora recently removed the 40 hour limit, so Now whats the point?

Then why are you bitching about it? You expect it to be something it's not and doesn't advertise itself to be.

Basically, you're a moron who assumes way too much, then blames everyone else when your expectations aren't met.

It's $3 a month.

Cry more.

Did you change the sound quality setting? I have Pandora One, and it was set to "normal" quality by default in my account settings.

And yes, I can tell the difference.

I don't have to have a stupid ugly browser open to control music. I pay $3 for convenience.

Apparently that's too much for some poor people.

smart Phone uses the same bit rate under Pandora One but on the desktop version its gets upped to I think 192.

Plus for $3/month you get no ads.

No ads, stand alone app, unlimited streaming. I use it about 45-50 hours a week so $3 is worth it for the lack of ads alone.

They did? Last week I was still limited.
[edit] I just checked, and realized the whole site is changed and no more limits. Awesome!

How do they make money then, more ads?

They reported $67 million in revenue for Q2 earnings. I suppose they sell an ad or two.

Wow, I don't know anyone that pays for pandora, I guess the advertising really works.

I don't remember ever having ads though, even on the free version. I think on a generic kids channel I set up once I had an ad or two, but not on my other more specific channels. I never linked it with FB though, and just clicked "I'm still listening" every so often, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Then again, maybe I just don't pay close attention.

If you are using firefox with adblock plus you don't get ads anyway. That is pretty sweet about no 40 limit anymore. Didn't know that.

I have adblock plus, maybe why that's why I don't get them. I didn't realize that program could block the audio ads also.

All of that is accomplished by

You can accomplish nearly the same thing by using the free sidebar gadget.

So no ads, can get your own desktop widget, Unlimited streaming all for free. Only thing you cannot get is the better quality music. But I have not heard the difference at all. And yes I should be able to tell since I have the Klipsch Promedias 5.1

Unlimited skips. Only difference I know of.

My Pandora One doesn't give me unlimited skips. The difference is better quality (you can tell with good speakers), no ads, and a desktop app. Granted, the web interface is better.

usually you need a better physical setup to notice better sound quality, if the quality isnt considerably better.

True. I too can't tell the difference between 128k and 192k from Pandora. I do like the convenience of just launching an application as opposed to going through those steps listed. The lack of mobile ads, since 10 hours of each week are in the car, is nice. Plus its only $3 per month.

Vista only? No thanks.

It works in 7. (And also in XP if you run the vista sidebar - there's a hacky method for doing so posted up around the interwebs.)

The only real problem I've run into with the gadget is under 7-64 bit. The gadget needs flash to run and the sidebar is 64 bit and can't run the 32 bit flash most people have installed. The easy fix for this is to install the 64 bit flash beta/release candidate from adobe labs.
